Perfect, as far as I am concerned.
I bought this control based on Alton Brown's endorsement. He was, as usual, spot on. All indications are this thing is perfect. I have only used it for one BBQ so I will update this review in a few months after I have more experience with it but so far - perfect.I use it on a BWS Fat Boy. It took a little minor fabricating to attach but that is the case with pretty much all the fans.I set the IQ110 control at 250. The smoker has an accurate built in thermometer whose accuracy I have verified multiple ways. With the IQ110 control set on 250, the smoker stayed at 252 for three hours. Then I turned it to 225 and it adjusted to 225 after about 30 minutes. Then it held that temp for the remaining hour of the cook. This is a simple, basic, thermostatic control for the fan which is exactly what I need. I don't need a fancy two probe setup that gradually ramps down the pit temperature as the meat approaches the target. I don't need AI in my thermostat. I just need a control that blows more air when the pit is under temp and less air when it is over. This control does just that. It simply works. It is perfect for me.

amazing gadget
All started with [...] that pointed to that simple conversion of a regular kettle barbecue into thermostat controlled pro device. A simple computer fan and thermometer hooked up to the grill grate can keep the real cooking temperature from 175F to 375F set on the dial! I use weber performer grill with gas starter and simply drilled a 1-1/4 inch hole in front of the grill just below the coal grate and above the cleaning blades level (used the diamond circular saw - that kettle steel is not easy to cut through), connected provided plastic nipple for the air hose, one more 13/64 inch hole just below the top of the kettle for the temperature probe and viola.I fill one coal container that comes with performer weber, lit it up with the gas starter and put it on the left side of coal grate so it is away from the plastic air hose nipple. I use the real charcoal chunks since the IQ will keep the temperature for me - I don't need a consistent fuel. I add some wood chips, cover the coal container with the Smokenator 1000 steel cover ($60 on amazon), than the cooking grate, than a dripping pan with water on top of the coals and the setup is done. I set the temperature on the IQ110 to lowest and this thing keeps it on that level for me for up to 4 hours without adding coals. What is missing is a load of fish fillets marinated in salt/sugar. I tried so far all regular Costco fish: tilapia, catfish, rock fish, steel head salmon and all come out after 4 hours perfectly smoked. Now I am on the ribs and other meat projects...Thanks IQ110 and amazingribs.com!-Peter

Not great but OKAY
Now keep in mind this product was made for kettle grill or smoker of the Weber type and it may work ok. I have a 7 in 1smoker grill by let us just say it ends in la's. Any way I modified it so I could take it camping. I now have have used the IQ 110 every weekend since I purchased it. I have a Fluke meter that is accurate with in +or- of a tenth of a dergree and when the IQ110 gets to set point temp, its still blowing air petty hard to bring the pit up to temp. Now, what I do is unplug the pit temp sensor and plug back in and and it recognizes the set set temp and slows down or even stops. I like the good long leads the IQ 110 comes with. When I received the IQ110 it was promptly delivered. I did have a couple questions I wanted to ask and when I called them No answer on multiple times. Well I had the IQ 110 for sometime now and Just last week I received a phone call from them. So I would give the one star for customer service!!

Awesome little unit!!
I bought this controller to use on my 55 Gallon "Ugly Drum" homemade smoker! I hooked it up in a matter of minutes, lit my charcoal, and set the temperator knob to 225F. Within several minutes, that little controller blower had brought the smoker unit up 225F (confirmed by my large dial thermometer on the smoker drum) and held it there all day as I cooked a large brisket! Have used it three times now and it works great! The only thing I will add is that, as the instructions indicate, it works better if you leave it alone so it can "learn" the cooker and respond to its tendencies. If you are constantly adjusting the temperature knob or continually opening the lid to the smoker, the controller will still work but my have to "hunt" for the correct temperature a bit more (as you would expect). I would recommend this unit to anybody who wishes to slow cook meats on charcoal as it frees up your day to do other things AND it keeps the temperature more consistent that I can if I sit there and tweak the cooker by hand all day.

IQ110
The system has been sent back twice so far because it was not working properly. Each time it was a probe that cost $20 each time at my cost. Pretty expensive if you have to buy one each time you cook.

Two Stars
Works good once in a while. It'll go a good 20 degrees above set temp quite often.
