My husband's review:"Although not as recent as some other Board Review books, this book is still good as a review and learning guide both during the Cell Biology and Histology Course and prior to the NBME Cell Biology and Histology Subject Exam and USMLE Step I Board Exam. Although it does not provide direct clinical correlations such as found in some review books, it does provide a set of learning objectives and a section titled Max-Yield Study questions at the beginning of each chapter. These are designed to help focus the students on key concepts that the student should know following both reading that chapter and following the class conference/lecture. It can thus be a useful supplement for study during the Cell Biology and Histology course as well as reviewing for the NBME Subject Exam and the USMLE Step I Board Exam. The chapter text provides a concise review of the important concepts for that particular cell component, tissue or organ system. At the end of each chapter there is a set of NBME Subject/USMLE Board Exam style questions. These questions are less clinically-oriented than in some other Shelf/Board Exam review books, but do provide the student with a good test of their knowledge of the basic science. Thus, this book provides a good review of the more basic-science oriented type of questions that can be found on the NBME Cell Biology and Histology Subject Exam and USMLE Step I Board Exam. It could be used as a concise text for cell biology and histology, or as designed- be a good supplement to the conferences and lectures in a cell biology and histology course. For faculty, it also provides a good array of the types of questions they might want to use in their exams. Although not as clinically oriented as some review books and a little dated, it is still a good book and recommended especially as a guide to the basic science."

I am a little bit disappointed about this book; not the good reference book for histological stains/skills. Very few pictures of histological stains. This is more a cell biology book. The title is somewhat misleading. I do not mean it is not a good book, though. Buying from Amazon is somewhat risky; maybe it is better that you should have read the book physically before you buy from Amazon.
