Storybook Costumes for Dolls: Patterns and Design Techniques

This is my new favorite doll clothes pattern book! The photos of these beautiful little storybook dresses are exquisite, filled with detail and inspiration. The book pages include a full set of the book's patterns, each clearly labeled, for 8", 10", 11", and 12" girl dolls. This book is very well organized and clearly written, and includes an index to all the shaped pattern pieces, as well as a guide to fabric dimensions needed for rectangular pieces for each type of dress. Every design photo indicates which pattern pieces were used, and very detailed sewing instructions with closeup photos explain each sewing step. I learned lots of new techniques for building elaborately detailed bodices using a simple bodice pattern.I photocopied all the pattern pieces for the 12" doll size, and made a pocket in the back of the book by taping the top and bottom of the last page to the back cover to keep them in. The model dolls in the book are adult collector dolls, but the dress I made fits the 13" Corolle Les Cheries play doll I'm sewing for very well.

This is a beaufiful book with very clear directions, great advice and tips, and lovely photos. Sewing experience is necessary, but she has basic to advanced costumes. I also love that it allows for creativity.

This book was exactly what I wanted and the variety of costumes was very well presented. All my porcelain doll making friends loved it as well.

I have found this book to be my right hand guide for costuming my small dolls. It is easy to follow and the pictures are wonderful.
