Photo Basics 201 Barn Door/Grid and Gel Set

Barn Door for 7 inch reflector, the overall construction is good and it comes with a grid and 4 gels. The barn doors don't quite reach all the way to the top and bottom or left and right of the light source so in a few instances you may need to clip on a piece of cardboard. The gels work really well except when they don't. What I mean by this is occasionally they don't line up quite right and getting them in or back out can be a real pain. The grid also tends to throw a bit of a shadow if it is not positioned perfectly and you may need to rotate it a bit before you find the sweet spot that does not cast the shadow. Lastly it is stamped out of sheet metal, which is good, but when you think about how inexpensive that kind of manufacturing is you realize the unit is a little pricey. So I have a lot of gripes about this unit but individually they are just kind of announces, it is only collectively that they cost this unit a star.

The media could not be loaded.  This worked perfectly for me using the Honey Badger  Interfit Honey Badger 320Ws Compact Flash Head . The Metal construction is solid and fits snugly around my Bowen-s mount. The gels have a magnet system that adheres really tightly and they work beautifully. If you want to use the grid, the barn has to be removed so that you can insert it, though if you plan on using a grid, the gels will fit right over it. The barn "doors" have gaps where light can escape so I bought a roll of Cinefoil to cover up the exposed areas. This is a well-made unit and I do join the chorus lamenting about a lack of carrying case, but that wasn't promised so no stars have to be removed.

TradePort got me the Barn Doors on time and they work fine with my Aputure D300 for those scenarios where I need to spot the light at a greater distance to Key Light a subject

Very well built for an inexpensive modifier. All metal with a nice finish. I fit it on the standard 7" reflector that comes with Alien Bees monolights. It was a little tight but I bent the attachment clips slightly outward and it went on snug.The colored gels attach via magnets that hold the holder in place. Very convenient to swap out quickly and easily.I ordered more.

Very sturdy, functions well. The gels are great and it is nice having the grid as well. I wish it had a case, but that's the only qualm I have with it.

very nice. the kit includes a grid and a set of framed gels. i wish it came with holder when not being used.but the gels look great with my 150 Strobelite Light Kit.
