Very easy to setup on all devices
I purchased this printer as a replacement for my Epson Artisan that was worn out..I read hundreds of reviews and finally decided to purchase the Canon PIXMA MG5520. Honestly my biggest reservation was that it was so inexpensive I was unsure as to what quality it would be. I was pleasantly surprised by its quality as I took it from the box.I am not a tech guru so I was not looking forward to the install process but I just simply read the directions and the wireless install worked very smoothly and i was printing and scanning in approximately 30 minutes of which most was reading the directions several times. My wife wanted to be able to print from her pad and phone as well as her personal computer and our main computer. In addition to that I wanted to be able to print from my hobby computer in my shop as well as my phone and another tablet that I use with my hobby. So I had to download iphone apps as well as android apps and install on 3 other computers. I was shocked by the fact that all of them installed so easy and were working properly on the first try..We have used it daily for about 45 days now and not needed to replace ink units yet. The seem like a good sign.So far I am very happy with the purchase especially since the unit was less than $100 and I just didn't think a unit for that price would be so functional. Color printing and photo printing is excellent and seems as good or better than my older unit that was 3 times the cost.Over all my initial experience has been exceptional. We shall see how it endures for a year or two.

Love, love
Love, love, love it! First of all, I waited a while to write a review so I could get a good feel for how this printer is going to perform. I researched many printers before buying and was hopeful this would be just what I needed. I was really hating the Epson that I had and when it refused to scan just because I was out of ink, I gave it the boot. After receiving this and setting up, I really like the size and it seems to be well made. Also, the print quality is way better than anything I ever got out of the epson. My main concern was ink. I do not like having to purchase ink constantly so I was looking for something that would not bleed me dry. I know that the ink that comes initially with the printer usually does not last that long so I was not expecting to have to wait long before changing it out. I bought replacement cartridges up front so I would have them on hand. Well I have just now after several months had to change out my black for the first time! The color is still going. I couldn't believe it. I don't print tons of stuff but I do homeschool so I do a moderate amount of printing. I have printed photos, worksheets, etc, and still have been using those same cartridges that came with the printer. THat was a big plus for me! Also, my old printer would give me the low ink warning and then not let me print any longer. This printer has been warning me that it was low but I kept printing and it just kept going, without losing print quality. Another plus becuase I feel I am actually getting all the ink I paid for and able to use it. Well, I have not had the opportunity to see if it will let me scan even with the ink empty but I will update when that opportunity comes. I am so pleased with it and will never buy another epson. Canon will be my choice as long as they continue to make quality products like this.

Alice in Color Printerland
In the interests of fairness I must point out that this is my first color printer. For many years I've worked perfectly with a B & W laser printer plus a flatbed scanner to digitize prints and slides into my computer. But I have wanted a color printer for a few reasons, the main one being for the capability of printing my photos - primarily scenic and nature. So some of the comments I'm about to render might apply to all moderately priced color printers. First of all, problems started for me upon setting up the MG5520. I was having a frustrating amount of trouble following the pictorial representations of the 'Getting Started' manual.(BUT THAT'S ALL THERE IS) My big screw-up came when I plugged in the unit while the feed tray was still folded up. So now I had a non-functioning machine with an error message I couldn't get rid of. Canon prominently provides a 1-800 helpline # and I used it fast. After having me unplug the unit for a few minutes and then plugging it back in, (something I already tried) the agent told me that I had done nothing to break it (I sort of doubt that), that it was a lemon and they would send me a new machine via priority shipping. It arrived the next morning. I CAN'T COMMEND CANON ENOUGH FOR THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE! The machine they sent was the MG5620, a machine similar in every conceivable way. This time I made no mistakes with the set-up and within an hour I was printing. Docs with color come out clear, crisp and beautiful. I'm still experimenting with my photos to see exactly what I can and cannot do. When using a high quality, 80 lb. paper you do come out with a luxuriant and beautiful print with high image accuracy and intense colors. BUT... with 8 1/2" X 11" paper if you have any subject matter near the (horizontal) sides of the image expect the printer to chop part of it off. As a photographer I've always been told to "fill the frame". Now I find that some of my pictures will be inappropriate for printing. Maybe if I were to use A4 paper (8 1/4" X 11 11/16") I will achieve different results, but who knows what might be cut off from the (horizontal) bottom or top. BESIDES, in terms of display.... I'm having lots of trouble finding suitable pre-made framing even for the 8 1/2" X 11" format. All matting seems to be cut 8" X 10" (the classic 'head shot'), which would crop my images even more. Only 'document frames' are sized properly, but they're cheap looking and then I'm worried about the emulsions being flush to the glass (provided it really is glass). Given the popularity of home photo printing, I'm surprised the framing industry is still focusing on prints developed from film. In conclusion, this machine is really pretty good WITHIN CERTAIN LIMITATIONS FOR FINE PHOTO PRINTING. The instruction manual situation is atrocious. I found the 'Getting Started' manual to be most unwieldy, and the supplied disc only makes a half page accessed through your 'Printers and Devices" function. On this half page it says you can download further operations manuals with a link to the Canon website, but once there one finds no download windows. The manuals are hardly worth downloading anyway. But in the end, even with all the wrong my experiences have portrayed, given what this unit has cost me, what I have gotten is still well worth the money.
