Ambient Weather WR-111B Battery: Having spares always helps
Batteries fail. We all know that, but sometimes we forget until it's too late. This Ambient Weather WR-BATT 3.7V was the right size for my needs, an 800 mAh rechargeable Li-Ion battery that is the OEM replacement for my Ambient Weather WR-111B Emergency AM/FM/NOAA Digital Radio . It's listed as a LIR123A, which is basically the generic replacement for the non-rechargeable CR123 battery, and is fairly common for some flashlights, emergency radios, photo gear, cycling lights and such. But since it would be the primary backup for my emergency radio, I decided to go with the OEM rather than one of the generic versions. Have run it through a few charge/discharge cycles now, and it seems to hold a charge quite well, just like the original. Have also taken a black indelible Sharpie marker and labeled the original with "A" and the date that I received the radio, and labeled the second battery with "B" and the date that it was received. It never hurts to keep track of them, and takes just seconds to do. There are other generic LIR123A rechargeables available, including some with chargers, and at some time I may try them, but for now this one seems to do the trick. When it comes to emergency devices, having spares always helps. 4/26/2013

Having 2 batteries is like having 1
Imagine you find yourself in a bad power outage, and you realize you only have one battery. How long is that battery going to last? I don't know. But I do know that I know it is best to have a back up battery for any reason. Having an extra battery during Power outages and natural disasters will keep your radio, flashlight, and charger going longer. It's a no brainer. I tried the new battery, and it is working well.

battery didn't last
I purchased Jan. 28, 2013. Received in early Feb. Put battery in my Ambient Weather Solar Radio. In August the battery died...six months! Even the battery that came with the radio lasted a couple years. Now not sure what to do. Do I purchase a new one and hope it lasts longer. Or throw another solar radio out! Had a Radio Shack solar radio before and they stopped making the replacement batteries. Go figure. Not having much luck!!

Doesn't Last
i ordered these to replace the batteries that came with the Ambient Weather WR-111B and didn't last nearly as long as the initial batteries. not sure if i just had a bad battery or not. i'll probably give it another try and report back later.

works great
my weather radio uses this battery instead of AA's. One charge lasted all weekend. Great replacement or extra battery. Looks to be well made.

Good Back-Up Battery For Emergency Radio & Flashlight
Radio will charge battery (one battery at a time) for use in event of power failure. Purchased this battery as a "back-up battery" which we charge and place insdie the radio as a spare. Seems to hold its charge well over several months -- but we would recommend at lest a quarterly recharge. Radio has hand-crank as well which can be used to charge battery IF yu have very strong, continued arm poser.

Preparing for the next storm season!
Living in Oklahoma and tornado alley, we always need a reliable radio to keep us informed. We live in the Moore area where this past May 20th, a tornado wrecked massive destruction. We thought that we needed a reliable storm radio so we got this one, and it will serve us well. It's got a lot of great features so when and if we go down into our storm shelter, we will have this with us!
