Trusted brand
This has been the only brand I have known growing up and now having children of my own they too have the same opportunity to experience a great brand that has stood the test of time. The workmanship is outstanding and item is exactly as described. The item runs true to size. The blades are very sharp, so always use caution when handling the skates. They are comfortable right out of the box and look great on!

WAY better than rental skates!
These skates are great for the price! I wear a size 9-9.5 shoe and ordered a size 9. These skates fit fine with tights, didn't try with stockings. I'm a beginner ice skater and these were excellent for me. They are fairly stiff in the ankle - but in a good way - you don't want to roll your ankle. One of the biggest problems that I remember with having rental skates in the past is that my feet turned inward, in these skates my feet were straight and in the right position (i.e., skating directly on the blade, instead of the side). Can't say whether that was due to the skates or my technique, but these were FAR better than any rental skates I've used. They're pretty comfy, I may add an insole for extra comfort. All in all these are excellent skates. I took them to a skate shop and had them sharpened before I skated with them (about thirty bucks, but it was a pro shop and it seemed like they did a good job and it was worth the money!). Not sure if that was necessary, but a friend who is a serious skater said that you should always get your skates sharpened if they're brand new. (The guy at the skate shop said so, too.) Remember to buy skate guards and to completely dry off your blades!

Far Exceeded My Expectations
I bought these skates after I enrolled my daughters in a recreational ice skating class. They are both beginners and soon advised how much they loathed the free rental skates that came with the class. I also loathed trying to lace the freebies with their variety of lace knots and broken tabs. I wasn't planning on buying them skates until I ran across these AA522 skates on Amazon. $33? are you kidding? I thought to myself. However, the reviews were very positive so I ordered two pairs. One size 7 for my size 6.5 wearing daughter, and one size 8 for my size 7.5 wearing daughter. When the skates arrived I was very pleased to hear both of my daughters agree that the initial fit was very comfortable, and had a little room to spare. Perfect! But how would they be on the ice? Our experienced ice skater friends advised how their rather expensive leather skates would initially put blisters on their kids feet until they were broken in. That in mind, I told the kids that their cheapie skates were likely to give them blisters too, and to be prepared. They have now skated three times on them and couldn't be happier. No blisters, and they are raving about how comfortable they are. Most importantly they immediately skated better! I don't know how long these will last, but they seem to be well made. For $33 I don't expect them to be legacy hand-me-downs! If we get a full season out of them I will feel like we obtained a super bargain. However, I suspect that the girls will grow out of them before they are even close to wearing out. Buy these skates with confidence. I offer my highest recommendation.

Great skates at a great price
These skates are an amazing value. I haven't skated in decades and wanted something just in case our pond froze well enough for skating. It did and I had a great time learning to skate again. The skates fit very well -- I wear a size 8 to 81/2 shoe and got the size 8 skates. I wore a pair of thin socks and a pair of very thick socks. The skates were snug but did not pinch at all. I do not remember ever skating and not having my feet hurt but I skated for about an hour and my feet did not hurt and were not cold (28 degrees fahrenheit). They were nicely sharpened and worked well. Of course they are not made for heavy use at this price but they are actually reasonably solid. The guards that come with them are extremely flimsy so if guards are important to you, order some separately.

Not very good if you're serious about figure skating or skate frequently
I bought these skates because I was starting basic skating classes in hopes to be a competitive figure skater, I guess I didn't know how expensive good figure skates cost until I looked it up on google. My skating instructor told me that there was basically no support in my ankle, and that's why I was always losing my balance. They also ran a bit small, but maybe that was just me choosing the wrong size, I don't know. These skates are fine if you don't go skating often and just need something for a one-time event or something, but they're not great for much else. I have yet to buy new skates, so for now I have to skate with a very unsupported ankle. Tip: if you see that around the ankle, it's creasing and your feet are leaning inward, the ankle is unsupported and the skate is poorly made. My skating instructor recommended Jackson brand skates if you're serious about figure skating. They are a great brand for the quality and because they sell skates for all skating levels, from beginner up to Olympic level.

Perfect for a first pair
Our daughter asked for her very own pair of ice skates this Christmas and these seem to be perfect! We went skating and she had zero complaints. They were snug and supportive, warm and sharp enough to glide nicely across the ice. Being that this is our first pair, we don’t have anything to compare to but I’d say the quality is great, especially for the price! She loved the more girly look as opposed to the typical rentals and they were easier to keep snug. We don’t have to adjust hers once! She skated for 2 hours straight!

Great Beginner Skates
Great beginner skate for my daughter. She's only ever used rented skates at indoor facilities. This year she wanted to be able to skate at public outdoor rinks in winter and these allowed her to do that easily. They worked great on outdoor ice that was not groomed like an indoor facility would be, were warm, fit her well and were comfortable, and looked really nice.

Not looking good so far. The size chart says a 6 in womens is 9.63 inches or 24.4 cm. The box that has arrived is size 6 but 23.4 cm so my daughter's birthday present will not fit her and I get to pay $24 to return it. Not good enough. Additionally now she won't have skates for her birthday.
