Hammerhead Spearguns Proteus

I got the 65cm (barely length only) version thinking the 75cm would be too big for my suitcase. I couldn't find real measurements this gun anywhere so I ordered the 65cm gun. The 65cm gun is really just under 29" with the spear removed for packing. The spear is 30". I'm assuming the 75cm model is 10cm or 4" longer, making the gun under 33" and the spear 34" which is perfect for my 35" suitcase. I'm returning this one and getting the longer version. That said, this looks a really nice gun. It's my first speargun and I really like that this is the only entry level gun with a full length rail, cord instead of metal wishbone, pre-riged and ready to use, has mono line, the shock bungee so you don't break your line, and the clip on the handle. FYI, the handle has a great rubberized grip. I will update this after I get to use it.

Hammerhead need to RECALL this gun before they get SUE. Do not trust the safe since the gun fire by itself putting it from safe to unsafe without pulling the trigger. The shaft don't always sit locked in the handle especially after firing and reload. If you are trying to load, always stay away from your buddy since this gun have high potential for mishap. I will have to write a complain to the business bureau since the gone is now used and will probably not get any money back or email reply from hammerhead company. I've already reached with them once without a single reply. Get something else and save money because I can almost guaranteed that you will buy another speargun after owning this

Very excited to use this little reef gun. Unfortunately, brand new out of the box the handle is visibly damaged. I don't believe it will affect usability but the plastic is quite sharp where my hand is supposed to go. I'm going to try and file it down because I don't have time to wait for a return and get a replacement. Hopefully, Hammerhead can make this right in some other way since they cheaped out on the packaging which I assume lead to the damage during transit.Other than that, the gun seems sturdy enough, a shock cord on this small of a gun might be overkill but I like it. Band seems tight and wish bone secure.

Exactly as advertised! Can't wait to use it

My 12yr old bought this gun for our trip to the Florida Keys. The gun was easy for him to load, and maybe that was the problem. We shot numerous fish at close range, and point blank range, and the spear barely penetrated them. The fish swam off the end of the spear easily. This gun has no power. We were only able to spear two lionfish successfully. I do not recommend this gun.

After the first shot, the locking mechanism broke. This gun is absolute trash and garbage. Spear is too thick and heavy, does shoot fast enough, and is purely a gun made only for looks and not use. I’ve been diving and spear fishing for 3 years and out of all the guns I’ve ever had and used, the hammer head proteus has to be the worst absolute garbage gun ever made.
