This tale excellently takes Batman down nearly as far as he could go. Jocks artwork matches the tone so very well.Excellent

My boyfriend LOVES comic books. especially the new fifty-two issue of batman which is supposed to be one of the best batman stories of all time. I'm not sure how this comic fits into the timeline or publishing line of batman. However, this is a full story which requires little to know extra knowledge apart from the basic backstory of batman and the joker. This means that it is rather easy to simply pick this up and read with no prior batman or comic book knowledge which is fantastic! Its great that this was so cheap for a hardback when i bought this, only £16. This is a huge amount of content for such a cheap price! I would definitely recommend this story as it is honestly, fantastic! Personally, I don't really read a lot of comic books and am not the biggest fan but i picked up this story very easily and loved it!

The Batman Who Laughs finds Batman fighting a different Batman from the dark multiverse, a Batman who experienced events that led him to become the Joker. As bodies start to be found across Gotham, all of them seemingly to be Bruce Wayne, he realises that the Batman who Laughs is dispatching every Bruce Wayne he can find across the multiverse and has now come for him. However in order to protect Gotham from this new threat, the Batman from this universe must also abandon who he is and become something else entirely to defeat this new threat.This is the first book I have read from this universe. Having read it now, I feel I would have benefited from reading Batman Metal first but despite this it does still work as a stand alone feature. This is probably the darkest, most violent and bloodiest depiction of Batman's fight against evil I have seen during my time reading the Dark Knight graphic novels and I enjoyed it greatly! It's certainly unlike any of the other stories I have previously read. The story itself is well plotted although it does require a lot of focus when we get into the various histories of all of the Bruce Waynes from the multiverse as a number of times I did get lost and had to reread parts. The illustrations throughout are bold and striking and really bring this dark world to life. If you didn't think Batman could get any darker then you were wrong

Having introduced the Dark Multiverse, Snyder takes us on a hellish journey with a truly nightmarish character from beyond - the Batman Who Laughs.IThis imagining of Batman and the Joker is a genuine thrill ride. I won't go into the plot for fear of spoiling it, but I haven't enjoyed a Batman story quite as much since the Endgame series.Brilliant, dark and perilous, Batman pushed to the limit by a fiendish incarnation of himself. Couldn't recommend higher.

Fantastic comic book edition, myself and son have both read it already. The drawings seem to want to pop of the page and the story keeps you gripped. My son has never been a huge reader but loved this.I think Comics are a great way for younger children to help them read if big books freighten them, obviously less violent comics when younger.

This has to be one of my favourite Batman stories I’ve ever read. The narrative itself is so damn cool. Pitching Batman against a version of himself that has no limits or barriers. The inclusion of The Grim Knight also adds a really cool aspect to the novel - creating a really cool sequence in the final issue of the novel. The art in this book is insane, again, potentially contain some of my favourite panels I’ve read in a Batman comic.My only issue was that I had to do some external reading into the past of James Gordon Jr (regarding what he’d done in past storylines to land himself in the position we see him in during the story). Other than that I had no real issues w the comic.

Great story, with good twists and turns. Really well drawn artwork. I would highly recommended to any comic book fan.

A story of Batmen from across the multiverse. It's pretty good, a little confusing at times, but overall, I enjoyed it.

I thoroughly enjoyed both this story and the art. I have yet to read a bad story by Scott Snyder. I love the way he writes Batman. He really gets the character and comes up with the most unique stories/situations to put Batman in. I just had to get the deluxe edition for this book because I also love Jock’s artwork. Scott Snyder/Jock is one of my favorite combinations on a Batman book, tied with Scott Snyder/Greg Capullo. Not only is the quality excellent, but I greatly appreciate it when the same artist is used throughout a book. I find it jarring when the art drastically changes from chapter to chapter as a result of a different artist (not that they aren’t good. I just prefer consistency.)If I had to complain about anything, it would be the font used for the Batman Who Laughs. Yes, the jagged red text really did suit his character, but it was very difficult for me to read on a black/dark grey background.I highly recommend this book to Batman fans who love darker stories with moody illustrations.

What the actual heck?! I absolutely ripped through this run in less than 2 days! I knew I liked Snyder’s work, so I knew I would be in for a treat, but wow, I didn’t know I was in for a whirlwind, a real roller coaster ride, a non stop bullet train to mind melt. Was a great story, it was tight, focused, action packed, tense, driven, engaging, and just breathless fun. The interplay of the three different batmen, and the literary device of the black letter text and red letter text to visual indicate how far gone the transformation was was superb, I loved all the little details like that that were clueing me in to what was happening.Beyond that the visual were stunning and vivid, really really great.This might be one off if not my all time favorite Batman ark, fantastic execution of an amazing idea.
