Great Taste, Idiotic Packaging
The kasundi is good. It's not super pungent -- but definitely packs a bit more kick than your french mustard. The thick texture and the mouthfeel is spot on. I had subscribed to this since I love Kasundi. But there's 1 major flaw with this. And that's the idiotic bottle. The Kasundi is thick and not runny (which is a good thing), but the bottle has a really slender neck (which is a really bad thing). Getting kasundi out of this bottle is an excruciating exercise. And I often end up making a mess in the process. Switch to a wide-necked bottle from which the kasundi can easily be spooned out and I'll switch back.

Has a much more of the mustard taste, versus more tartness you get in West Bengal with local kasundi. I think this product could use more green mangoes in it's recipe, rather than vinegar. Overall taste is as expected (it's mostly mustard seeds), and makes a very nice dipping sauce for almost anything deep-fried. And for me, it's bettee than the mustard dipping sauce flat Popeye's. The amount of added sugar was about 17g, which is ok, but for me was a little bit sweeter than I prefer. For the bottle I received, manufacturing date was for Nov. 2020, and though normally, homemade kasundi doesn't last long, this particular product's packaging said it had preservatives, and thus I expect this one should last a bit longer. I would NOT recommend this one for cooking because it doesn't have a strong enough essence that you get with fresh kasundi. If your use case is strictly for cooking, I would recommend adding just a little bit of pure mustard oil to get that strong buzz from the mustard taste. Shipping took about 20 days, and the product seems to be from Mumbai, India. Overall, very satisfied.
