good quality
This is a very enjoyable book. Although it is a soft cover, it is very sturdy. Will stand up to lots of hands. The photos are beautiful and vibrant. You want to touch the photos to feel the texture of the fabric. Very pleased with this purchase. And am thankful to the author. Makes a wonderful gift for Palestinian friends and family.

Embroidery from Palestine review
Very useful book - informative introduction, beautiful photos. However, the binding is very poor - the first time I opened it, the cover separated from the spine. The glue is not strong enough.

Palestinian Culture on display
it is a superb book that displays the importance of embroidery to the identity of women of Palestine, whether they were able to remain in their ancestral homes or were forced to leave them 65 years ago in 1948 or 46 years ago in 1967.

Poor Quality Binding
Sad to say,I would have to give this only 1 star. As reported in my review of "Embroidery from Afghanistan", the binding holding the cover to the pages was very loose and my first attempt to read the book resulted in the cover coming completely off the book. Same problem as the Afghanistan book. From what I could see of the content, looked as though it had good illustrations. I was too afraid to continue viewing because I feared it would all come apart. One star for possibly good content.

Love it
Excellent and informative. This material is censored in America, because it gives a cultural and human side of Palestinians, not the usual negative images the Zionist portray them as.

Palestinian Embroidery in Detail
This book provides excellent details of various embroideryand applique techniques found on Palestinian garments. It is a worthy companion to Ms Weir's fabulous book, Palestinian Costume.

Beautiful Introduction to Palestinian Embroidery
The book itself is an excellent overview of Palestinian embroidery. It opens with some history and cultural background to better understand the materials available (fabric and threads), the symbolism behind motifs, and the people who embroidered and wore the clothing. It then goes on to have beautiful photos of samples- from caps to bags to clothing. As an embroiderer, I was particularly impressed and happy to see that in place of a simple photograph of the piece at a distance to see the embroidery placement, there were also multiple close-up shots to see distinct stitches used, the sheen or fluff of threads, and variegation in colors. As this is just an introduction to the embroidery, don't expect to find explanations of how to recreate the stitches used or an in-depth interpretation of their symbolism. There is a helpful "further reading" section to the back for people who are intrigued and would like to continue studying. The 4-star review is only because the binding is TERRIBLE. The cover fell off when I was only about 15 pages in.

Read about the History of these beautiful designs
Helps to give a better insight into the various patterns in the embroideries in Palestine, along with how they are sewn and their history. An interesting read and has helped me gain a better understanding of this craft that I have so much admired

Good contents but poor construction
The contents of the book are brilliant but the first time I opened the book the cover fell off.It was not stuck properly to the rest of the book.I returned this copy for replacement which arrived the next day. However it had the same problem and I have now sent it back for a refund. It is a shame but I am not prepared to pay for faulty goods.
