Q: Can this board be written on? Would like to use it at a wedding welcome party in HI for the guests to sign as memory board for bride and groom

Hi Cynthia, as far as I can tell, I don't see any reason why you couldn't write on this. I have it hanging on a wall in my beach-themed guest room, and it really doesn't have any kind of coating on it that would deter a permanent marker or such. Hope this helps.

Q: Can I use the oil for other types of wood boards on this one?

I would think so - I always use mineral oil
