OK, first things first. This is a review of AUTOUTLET USB 2.0 VHS To DVD Audio Video Converter Scart to RCA/S-Video Adapter Capture Device Cable for windows XP win7 win8 win10. So often when reading reviews on product pages I often find they are not for the product you are actually looking at. I went by the book and downloaded the software from the mini disc supplied. I can see problems for those who dont have a pop-out traydisc drive (or no drive at all) but in the Q&A section above you are given a link to some NCH software which it will work with (though I suspect you may have to pay for this, but see below). This leads me to suspect that the hardware actually is plug and play and doesn't need the software disc, provided you have recorder software on your PC/laptop. I will suggest the software provided is pretty basic, Despite what it says on the instruction card, I could find nothing on the software which would allow me to control Brightness, Contrast, Saturation and Hue of the recorded signal. However I do have OBS Studio on my PC. It's freeware; go to obsproject.com and download the software. The converter works well with OBS which allows control of Brightness, Contrast, Hue Saturation and Gamma with the signal from the hardware. I was concerned at first with the quality of the raw signal at first, even though it is years since I watched the recordings I was copying. I know we have come to expect excellence from video these days and it is easy to forget how relatively poor quality VHS recordings were. However, after fiddling with the tracking on the VHS player I did improve the signal quality noticably, so someting to bear in mind. This, combined with the controls on the OBS software I now have video which is as good as, if not better, than playing the ouput from my VHS player direct to HD TV (luckily mine does still have a scart socket, though I don't have room for a permanently connected VHS player) I have no gripes with the build quality of the product. While its not heavy duty or professional/studio quality it's adequate and the cables and connectors are satisfactory. Overall, (software aside) it does what it says on the tin.

This is very old software and as I don't have a CD drive I can't install on my main laptop (it doesn't say this is a requirement). Honestech doesn't seem to exist any longer, so I can't get product support and I can't find the software on -line. I found version 7 ( I was sold v3!!), but my product key doesn't work with that. I had to load on an old laptop.The connectors are all very poor quality and don't connect properly.

Easy to install and setup and use.Currently converting old family movies to digital for a friend!

So after setup, video came on but I couldn’t get colour without the picture jumping. I looked up on how to correct this but the options didn’t work. Not sure if my laptop or vcr was to blame but I abandoned my conversion project. Although I did enjoy watching my brother and I, from when we were kids some 30 years ago.

Great product. Easy to use and fantastic results. Really good value for money as it came with various adaptors.

Works with windows 11 installed and software worked, but the cables and scart are very flimsy, could only get flickering picture and jittery screen while trying to capture. Gonna send it back, if you need a good ripper from VHS to Desktop or laptop, use a Scart to HDMI one.

It was working temporarily. i went to view the footage captured - it was fine, until i wanted to go back to capture mode, and it would show a blank screen and the sound of the vhs footage playing. it would still record the vhs footage but it was not showing on my screen as i recorded. also some of the vhs playback was in slow motion but playing it on the TV indicated that the VHS was fine as it played with no glitches. as much as i try i cant get he settings back to how it played correctly at the start during record mode, so i give up now. glitchy

Met mijn oude camcorder had ik meer dan 20 uur film op minicassettes die niet meer af te spelen zijn behalve op de camcorder. Met audio video converter zijn deze beelden gemakkelijk over te zetten op de computer. Dit apparaatje is gemakkelijk te installeren dank zij de meegeleverde cd en gemakkelijk in gebruik. Heel blij met mijn nieuwe aanwinst.
