I took a course in vector calculus and linear algebra 15 years ago but was forced to drop out of college and have forgotten most of the material. I am preparing to go back to college and complete a degree, so I want to get caught up. This is not a bad book as a supplement to a good text, but it's not a good text book on its own. I thought I'd be able to use this by itself, but I ended up using my calculus textbook to actually learn the subject matter, then I used this text to fill in the gaps and review.

Dr. Bachman targets those topics in calculus that are entry ways to understanding advanced mathematics. You are not wasting your time reading this book. Good illustrations meant to strengthen comprehension and supplement your text. Good job.

I purchased this along with How to Ace Calculus for my so. He is a college student and wanted some extra study help. He did not like nor use this book much but said he did like eh How to Ace Calculus much better.

Like all the dummy books, it gives basic information that has sometimes been a clincher to getting the question. However sometimes the info is too basic or vague for my university student needs.

The presentation and exercises are good.It's better to have some more details.Also,it's better to include the topics of differential equations.

I remembered loving advanced calculus at university, but now rather a lot of years on, I had completely forgotten what it was all about. However, having worked through this book I am in love with the subject all over again. The examples are clear and there are loads of questions to try, including little end of chapter tests and a final big exam. There are the odd glitches in some of the numerical parts of answers, but these are not too tricky to correct. All in all a very helpful book.
