Enjoyed the story
This is the same formula as all the other books, but still enjoyable. Another "myth" or "legend" that our good guys go looking for, only to be stalled by bad guys looking for the same thing. Lots of shooting and killing, including some of the good guys (or red shirts as they are called in some other genres). I did not like the ending, though. All along I have felt that Nina has a fairly big ego and will stop at nothing to get her way (and throws a hissy fit when she is called on it), and I often wonder why Eddie fell in love and married her. Parts of this book reinforce that notion. However, if you like lots of action, danger and adventure, this is a good book to read.

Archaeological mayhem!
The further adventures of Nina and Eddie Chase, some of the more endearing characters conjured for this type of adventure novel. These are more believable and likeable characters than any in,say,a James Rollins or Matthew Reilley book in my opinion, and I have read the whole series so far except "Excalibur" and the "sequel" to this one.Almost finished this one,I am only docking it one star reason being "Atlantis" part one and "Covenant of Genesis" were more impressive books,"Pyramid of Doom" was pretty good as were the ones about Hercules and the Hindu artifact thief, but this one has a ton of action and is a good cure for boredom!Indiana Jones on steroids, awesome if you like a good adventure with some comic relief, these should be movies but oh well, they are better!

I'm exhausted !!
Warning!! Don't read this book just before bed! There is so much action, you'll never get to sleep !! I Loved the story and the characters. This is the seventh in a series and ended like most books in a series do....in a cliffhanger. Did not like that part. Now I've got to read the next book(which I'm happy to do) , just wish it was because I wanted to , not because I want to see the ending. Cool premise.

Would you mind??
You are an interesting author . I enjoy the continuous use of characters, the story line,...BUT as far as the graphic violence and using Our Holy Father's name to swear....I KNOW you can do better than that..You are an intelligent man, you've displayed that in your writing..

Action Packed
Another Andy McDermott action packed thriller. The twists and turns are exciting and make the book hard to put down. Mr. McDermott has perfected the art of story telling.

Yay Eddie
Finally, this one lets Eddie loose to do what he does best. Learning more and more about him explains so much. I'm getting tired of Nina's superior "Sophia like attitude" but her saving grace is she loves Eddie without doubt. Full of action and adventure and the exhiliration of world travel is evident page after page. Can't wait for the "Temple of the Gods".

is more like his other novels but very slow to begin with
half way through this; is more like his other novels but very slow to begin with. action is same as his others in this series but not as well developed for suspense, i.e., follows other of his plots with less twists, surprises

Good...but...
Have loved Nina and Eddie's adventures in the past and eagerly awaited each new installment. However, this one was a stretch for me because I don't enjoy experiencing the personal battles and conflict within their marriage. Yes, I KNOW, it's probably more "accurate" that two such dissimilar people would have significant clashes but, when I read these types of books, I'm not reading for realism. Would have enjoyed it much more had the author left them working seamlessly as partners and left out some of Nina's and Eddie's infighting.

On With The Next Chase !!!
Well it's getting to the point now I'm reading books in between this series to break up the monotony and not that I don't like them it's just I can only stand so much carnage caused by Eddie. Haha. Probably one of the lesser action packed books up to now but still gripping and funny at times with Eddie's sarcasm and witty comebacks but still worth a read as you can't give up halfway through a 15 book series.

More of this, forget everyone else in the action stakes this is the pinnacle of class story and style.
Most books I just read once and then get rid of to the local Charity shop but this one is a real keeper and only half way through. Full of immediate action in a flashback from Afghanistan which shows a decent bit of background of Chase's former life and the impending evil soldier who comes into it later followed by great and not too long and drawn out character development and background to chases in jungles jet fighter shoot outs james bond type villains terrible torture and to be honest everything in the first 100 pages that any mission that Ethan Hawke went on would be proud to achieve. Give me more more more, a stunning book ordered them all now.

Another hit
I eagerly await the Nina/Eddie books they a well written page turners. All of the other synopsis have covered the plot sufficiently so I wont repeat it all.I downloaded this to my kindle and decided to leave it to read later (lake saving your favourite chocolate in the box) and found myself chomping at the bit to get to it. It doesn't disappoint. I was stuck tonight on my commuter run for 2 hours longer than usual and was so engrossed I hardly noticed. It's escapism of the finest quality. If you are new to these books it is best to read them in order as there is a theme and references to previous storylines. I am now regretting almost finishing this book as there isn't another out yet. These would make great films.

Two books in one
The plot, as ever in the Wilde/Chase series, is fast paced and filled with action. If you have been hooked from the first book in the series you will have come to know the characters like family which is why the loss of one of them was hard to bare - you really feel the pain of the others. The plot in Empire of Gold gives you two stories for the price of one and just as one finishes the other takes off. It would give too much away to go into more detail but once you read the first chapter you are hooked and putting the book down becomes more difficult as it goes on.The bitter-sweet ending leaves you wanting, no needing, more so I'm off to get stuck into the next instalment.

Stand aside James bond
Basically from the first page to the very last you get plenty of action. Should be made into a film. Andy McDermott always has you on the edge of your seat and he really fulfills this time I couldn't put it down from start to finish brilliant
