The Aqua-Bound Manta Ray Hybrid is built for high-angle paddlers, bigger boats, and paddlers looking for more power. With its all-carbon shaft and large, abXII fiberglass-reinforced blades, the Manta Ray Hybrid has a low swing weight and provides both comfort and power at a great price point. The Manta Ray Hybrid offers the Posi-Lok ferrule system which clicks into position firmly and securely. The Posi-Lok features strong, corrosion-free composite construction, convenient dual-button release, and infinite feathering angles. Licensed Ferrule US Patent No. 6,881,111. This paddle breaks down conviently and quickly into 4 parts for compact travel and packing. The two blades are secured to the shaft ends with a snap button fitting. The Manta Ray Hybrid is available in lengths from 210cm to 250cm in increments of 10cm. Aqua-Bound paddles are always assembled with pride in the USA!

excellent paddle- I'm 6'3" and bought the 150 for my 3' wide kayak. If I could do it over again, I'd order the 140.The blades are big. This is light, but not the lightest- on a scale of light - very light- feather I'd call this very light. It can be used for either low or high angle paddling. Given the price difference between this and the most expensive, I'll buy Aqua-Bound every time (unless I become a professional paddler or win the lottery).

Night and day difference!
Night and day difference between this paddle and a paddle I played 100 bucks for! This is the best value you can get in a paddle. If you are in the market for a paddle, go with the best one you can get at the time. Otherwise you will keep upgrading. Paddles and PFD are the 2 things I never go cheap on. The biggest thing, when talking about paddles is EFFICIENCY. This paddle is about as efficient as you can get for sub $200. There is no blade "shudder." The carbon fiber handle feels great in the hands. I don't have any grips and have no issues with blisters. If there are any downfalls it's that the handle gets hot, but that's easily fixed by dipping it in the water. The other thing is that the white blades are super bright! Not an issue during the day but when paddling with a head lamp on at night, I blind my self. Not a big enough issue to really take off a star or anything.

Best Paddle Yet
My wife and I agree that this is our favorite paddle (we've rented many different ones in the past and own two other types, both steel shafted). The graphite shafts of this hybrid are light weight yet strong. Although graphite paddles are available on other models, we opted for this hybrid style which includes the fiber reinforced plastic as we felt it would be more durable when we paddle gravel bottomed shallow rivers. The absolute best feature is the PosiLok system. Its super easy to adjust and its a "snap" to put together and a "click" to take apart! There are more locking points between 0 and 60 degrees than one would ever really need, but I you really want to fine tune and customize the angle you have a LOT of choices! But the main payoff of this paddle is its light weight - we paddle for hours every other week all year long and this paddle is fantastic for extending our endurance.... when we're tired at the end of the day its not because of a paddle weight! The price is very fair thanks to the plastic as opposed the graphic paddles. I would highly recommend it for fresh water and ocean kayaking (we don't paddle above Class II so cannot honestly comment on this paddle for more abusive conditions. If you are a white water paddler check other reviews).

Great paddle
I have had this paddle for one year now. I really like that it is lightweight (although not as lightweight as more expensive paddles). It is very sturdy and is great to get some speed going. The shaft felt a little bulky/oddly shaped (slightly oval), but I am more used to it now. Very easy to separate and put together again. It can be feathered in either direction or kept straight.

A nice change
I bought this for use on my paddle board, on which I mount a Larry Chair for fishing. I thought my fiberglass paddle was light until I bought this. It's a noticeable difference. It cost twice as much as the fiberglass paddle, but was well worth it.

Amazing
When I purchased my new Kayak I didn't put enough thought into the paddle and bought some cheap Coleman rig that my dealer had on clearance. After one time out I knew something was off and did some research, landing on the 230mm Aqua Bound Manta Ray. The difference is night and day. Much lighter and I had more power, speed, and stamina. Do yourself a favor and buy a nice paddle....like these!

Extremely weak at the snap button
On my first use of the paddle, while stabilizing myself getting into the kayak, it broke right at the holes where the snap buttons lock in. I didn't see any sign of defects, so my thinking is that nothing was done to reinforce the weakening of the shaft caused by drilling of the holes for the locking mechanism. For comparison, my other paddle is a Werner Skagit, and I've used it to stabilize myself on entry dozens of time without a problem.

Great paddle dollar for dollar.
Great paddle for the money. I bought it for wife to use on her Kaku Kahuna and it’s great, I still prefer my Werner personally, but this paddle is great for the cost.
