Paula Pryke: Wedding Flowers: Bouquets and Floral Arrangements for the Most Memorable and Perfect Wedding Day

Was disappointed in this book. I have been making wedding bouquets/arrangements, etc., and working with silk florals for several years for friends and family, though I have had no formal training. Am just beginning to make bridal bouquets/etc. for my granddaughter's wedding and wanted to update some of my "wedding flowers" how-to ideas. This has lots of wildly bright and busy floral arrangements, but not many elegant floral designs not involved in trying to see how many different kinds of flowers and colors one can put in one bouquet. Color and design doesn't differ much with use of live florals and silk flowers, though live flowers are certainly more difficult to work with. Not much useful info for people like me who just enjoy working with flowers and looking for suggestions on use of color and arranging. The book is aimed for professional use and huge weddings not for use by the everyday lover of floral arranging.

I was actually a little disappointed in this book, it’s full of beautiful photos that can spark inspiration, but there was very little “how to” information, and it just didn’t end up providing much of what I was looking for. There are a few detailed recipes in the book for various decorative pieces and bouquets, but the majority of its pages are dedicated to types of popular wedding flowers, wedding/color schemes etc. Most of the “how to” design work included involves floral foam, and wiring flowers, and designs that lean towards a more structured look. So if that’s what your searching for, you will likely enjoy this book.

This is very great book

Great photos, demonstration of techniques to make some of the floral items and needed flowers and foliage, flowers available by season, flowers for various wedding themes and colours, bouquets from one flower type to many. Flowers for the wedding ceremony, reception, personal flowers, etc. Probably the best wedding floral book on the market by a very well known floral designer with 30 years of experience. Buy it for yourself or it would make a super gift.

great book at great price, only negative comment would be that the paper dust jacket was quite damaged and scuffed.

I dont know if I like it or not yet. The information isn't well structured and she flower designer uses a loooot of colors for her arrangements... If you like colourful designs go for it.
