Grace Chess Inlaid Wood Board Game Set with Metal Pieces, Medium 12 x 12 Inch

This is a great chess board to order. It is great quality, standard size, storage underneath. Highly recommend.

I bought this fancy looking set to sit on the end table in my office. I do play with it on occasion, but it is mostly there to make me look smart whenever clients come in. In my opinion it is elegant and reasonably expensive looking. It seems to be made of real wood, and there is plenty of storage space within. You can easily fit 2 complete sets inside or even use it to hide something naughty like cigars or a slim bottle of whiskey. The entire box measures 12.25 inches square by 3 inches in height. The actual playing area is about 10 inches square. The king is 2.5 inches tall, and the pawns about 1.5 inches.I was very pleased with the purchase, and this is the best deal on a medium sized fancy looking metal chess set I could find.Do not pay more than $80 for this set. Occasionally you will see sellers trying to get as much as $120 for it, but if you keep looking it should be available for $79.95.

I got this 3 days early, for one, the seller was helpful in tracking down a bad FEDEX mistaken delivery.The board inlay is well done for the price, the pieces are well detailed and a good medium weight. You can see the slight seams on each piece however I would say its minor, and perhaps even adds to the likeability.I would defiantly recommend this set for anyone wanting a pretty and sturdy set that is well made and less then 50 dollars. The board lid (playing surface) fits snugly and is not loose, and has plenty of room for any additional chess pieces you would want to add later.

Very nice set, good for playing and display. The pieces are have a good weight and height to them. The board is beautiful.But: On some of the pieces you can see the casting/manufacturing seams too clearly for the price charged. The squares are actually three colors - light, dark, and in-between but it's not confusing. The board is also a bit tall making it kind of clunky. Still a nice set.

There is not much to say about this set. The inside is lined with green felt, and the board/lid does not shift when on top of the base. The pieces are made of pewter with simple designs and felt on their bases. Is it the most lavish chess set you ever laid eyes on? No, but it does its job just fine. I honestly couldn't tell you if the price is just, but it seems so with Amazon's price cut. The only downside is that the board is so large that it is not likely that it will fit on your closet shelves completely. I recommend this as an intelligent piece for any simple room or chess player; take my word as you see fit.

The chess pieces have mold lines down the sides, which kind of shows the lower-end quality but they are nice and heavy. The box is well built and has a soft velvet inside bottom. The pieces come in two separate black "velvet" bags with drawstrings. The bags are velvet on the outside but a kind of thin plastic material on the inside. I wouldn't hesitate to buy again for a gift.

I have a son who has been playing chess competitively. Because of him we have many chess sets at home. I bought this one for my younger one who just started. It is the best looking one at home now. He is very proud of his new chess set. Craftsman is impressive. Metal pieces are unbreakable and very stylish. It could have been a bit bigger but for my little one, that makes it more manageable. I recommend this set to anybody who likes to play chess.

It was the perfect gift since my boyfriend really enjoyed playing Chess on his phone so I thought its be great to have the real thing. It came in great condition and the wood did not feel cheaply made at all. Worth the price!
