Review: Minor Typos, Clear Instructions - Despite of the occasional typos, there is an inviting and informative quality about this guide that gives it a well-deserved 5-star review. In the description, it is said one doesn't need prior experience in order to be able to follow the provided instructions, and that is absolutely true. I am a person who hasn't sewed since I was five years-old, and now fifteen years later, both my interest and my abilities are rekindled and improved after reading and following Catherine's tips. The photos are relaxed, definitely not flashy nor taken in a formal setting, but they illustrate the lesson they need to without coming off as pretentious in any way, which is more than appreciated. Review: Basic, clear instruction - This little book is very basic. If you've ever sewn, you likely know this. However, the pictures are clear, the instructions are well-written, and the lists are good.

Basic but informative....
The pictures are in black and white!!! Cannot be clearly seen. The drafting steps seems are easy to follow and the markings are clear. Thought that there would have been a pants included. Since the review above I have drafted all except the shift dress. They were really easy to follow. Is there a follow up to this book. I feel ready to do more. I change my rating to 4 stars. Feel so accomplished

A very thorough and complete guide to dressmaking. It has numerous images and clear instructions as to how one can learn the art of dressmaking. I was surprised to see she also shared some details about shirts and skirt making as well.

Loved it
Nobody seems to have the time to even learn to make dresses anymore, but it can be so much fun and so therapeutic for the mind and soul. I know that for a fact, I am a knitter and I use my hobby to destress but the end results are always great socks, shawls, and mittens that I make. Now after reading this book, I am inspired enough to give the dressmaking a try, I still have an old sewing machine that I can use and I am sure if I follow the instruction of this book, I will end up with something great.

Good beginner book
Scoured hundreds of book online, this book was the simplest. No showing off, throwing unknown terms to a novice. No unyielding pictures that do not correspond with explanation and text. It's simple and direct to the point, the pictures "say" what the author is trying to convey. I got it for free on kindle unlimited, but now buying it. If it were a paperback book, it would have dog ears a plenty. This will by my go to book and reference book on my journey to sewing.

All the pictures are in black and white and darkened!
I haven't started sewing with the instructions but it's the size of paperback novel with pictures that are in black and white and unlear ones at that! Should have been in color as for a complete newbie, the pictures are 70 percent of learning how to sew. So even though I gave 4 stars I wouldn't advise; there are better books out there.

Lacking
It's a quick read but it wasn't as informative as I thought. Example it just says sew in the zip but doesn't really tell you how to install the zip so it's in correctly. I also found several grammatical and spelling errors. Also having the pictures in black and white was dark to see certain details in the instructions.
