I bought this to use for a 1st grade subtraction lesson and it was so much fun! The kids love learning with Pete the Cat. I brought it home for my 4 year old after the fact and he loved the book as well. Would highly recommend for a fun story that introduces math concepts.

My 7 year old loves all Pete the cat books but this was very special. I love this book because it encourages forgiveness and at the very end references Matthew 6:14 which speaks of forgiveness for others as God forgives us.

Our child loves cats in books, so we thought this would be a good one for her. Unfortunately, she lost interest in this book really quick. I have never read Pete the Cat and neither has my husband. I'm not too impressed with the illustrations in the book. It wasn't very kid engaging. The story line is okay, it provides some education on numbers and counting. So all in all the book is great on its own, it just wasn't for us or the kids.

I bought this book to donate to the Literacy group I volunteer for. When a child likes Pete the Cat they REALLY like him. The books all rhyme which makes them easier to read. I use poetry a lot so kids can experience the cadence of reading aloud. It helps kids who read in monotone or try to read as fast as they can. The advantage of a rhyming story is that the young reader can guess what a word is when I model the rhythm and look at them to guess or read the rhyming word. Kids who know the words to jingles, or hit songs always like poetry. The big Pete the Cat fans really like to read a title that's new to them.
