Reliable test chemicals.
Maintaining both a Spa and a pool, DIY water testing requires a reliable test kit. Taylor, is among the best available and I have used their kits/chemicals for over 20 trouble-free years.

Know How Much Chlorine You Have
To maintain your swimming pool water, you need to know how much chlorine you have in the water and how much you may need to add, so you have enough but not too much. I keep ours between 2 and 4 ppm., that's enough to keep the water sanitized and keep the algae at bay. We have a salt water chlorine generator (which I love), and it needs to be set to run a percentage of the time. When it's hot and sunny, it gets raised to 20% or more, and when it's cloudy and cooler I will lower it to 10% or less, but on average during the summer I leave it around 16% with the pump running 24 hrs. per day. Where we live the pool can stay open all year, which means I'm testing chlorine levels all year. The Taylor test kit makes it quick, easy and accurate.

Replenishes chemicals used in the Taylor K-2006C test kit
I have been using the Taylor K-2006C for 2 years now and have no regrets using the test kit vs. the ones sold at the local big box stores. I use a 10ml sample and two levels scoops from the included spoon. They used to include a rubber band to hold the spoon in place but I guess times as they are, cost saving measures necessitated that the rubber band not be included anymore. No big deal, I just use the one from the old empty container. I use a speed-stir to test for chlorine and that helps a lot as well. Sometimes some of the DPD powder clumps or has not been fully turned into a powser and I use the spoon to break it up (sort of like a mortar and pestle). Its still more cost effective for me to buy the ones I run out of than a whole new kit
