Shakespeare Wild Series Ice Fishing Spinning Rod

The handle comes with plastic wrapping around the cork, but it does not have any sealant over the cork (making it more waterproof). If you're using this item, you're no doubt around water - making it tough to keep the handle dry. I noticed that after propping my rod in the snow for a little while, it acted as a sponge. I don't expect it to hold up over time due to this. I applied a flackseed oil to the cork areas to help seal them and make them more protected.

These rods appear to be perfect size and weight for walleyes. The medium action has a decent backbone for hook setting, but yet a pretty flexible tip. You might need to add a spring bobber for real light bites, but I think most fishing will be fine "as is". Just what we were looking for, balance of quality and price.

Eyelets are straight on my rod, just got off the ice and I can’t wait to get back out to use this on some perch and eyes. Excellent handle and seems to be of good quality. Update: I’ve been pounding fish with this rod. Love it.

Rod came quick and on time but the eyelets and grip are not aligned straight. Not a huge deal just for the price just looks funny.

This is the best Shakespeare rod that I've found out there for the money. I will likely be buying more of these in the future.

The tip broke for some reason. Wasn't a big perch. Could just be the rod I got.

Caught lots of walleyes ice fishing nice rod for the price all cork handles hard to find now days.

Great looking rod, but...It's light action for sure. I was hoping for a little more backbone and a bit more tip sensitivity, but you'll have all little control if a 2-3 pound fish decides to eat. And...5 guides on the rod aren't in line with each other or the rod seat. Nu uh...Not today. This rod is going back.

Rod came with tip broken off. Huge disappointment. The box was incredibly large for the item and stuffing was added making me wonder if it was broken before it shipped.

Fishing for walleye but this rod had no problem landing a couple 7-10 lbs Pike. Sensitivity is decent.

Perfect for the gills and perch. Super sensitive.
