Good quality system, OK instructions.
The media could not be loaded. The original on my boat, completely rusted and busted through the housing. This was a good replacement. It’s easier to just get a complete system like this with the stem and steering wheel as opposed to just finding a replacement cable. Remove your old one first and measure it before you order a new one. This one worked out perfectly on my 17 foot fishing boat. But very smooth steering system now. Install was fairly easy, mostly common sense, but the reference pictures in the instructions did help. I will update if there’s any issues with longevity but for now definitely five star.

It Fits!
I have a 1984 Skeeter bass boat with a 40 H.P. Mariner outboard. Well after 38 years the steering cable got too hard to steer. I bought this Bestauto steering system and my old cable said it was 9.5 ft. and I had heard to always round up so this steering cable was 10 ft. and it fit perfect! It looks like good quality and it was a complete kit with steering helm and wheel and it went on nice and now my steering works like new! Just glad I found this for such an old boat. Price was good and now I can go fishing knowing that my steering is reliable!

Works well, seems to have good fit and finish
It appears well made. I replaced the same brand system on my boat, so all the bolt holes matched up. I didn't have to do any new drilling or anything. You can "feel" the gear turn when you steer the boat. It's a little odd at first but I'm sure I'll get used to it. It also might be less noticable under power with the engine running.

Looks like it will be great.........but
I measured my boat exactly as shown in the diagram FOUR TIMES. Each time it came out to 12ft 6". So as recommended I rounded it up and ordered the 13ft cable. Way too long boys! So I measured the cable I removed as the diagram shows, and it came out to 10ft 8". A 11ft cable is not offered and a 12ft will still be too long so I'm going to have to order the 10 footer and hope I can get it to work. I hope it does cause it really is an easy replacement and good quality item.

It was easy to install. Directions were good. Steering has never been smoother in my j14 Carolina skiff

Will definitely be buying the same thing if I ever need it again
Worked perfect for my boat! It’s like having power steering for real but if you have the rack and pinion style make sure you order a foot longer then what your cable is

2 issues with it. Is it a deal breaker? idk
First it said to measure then add 1 foot but it then ended up being one foot to long so maybe that's on me idk. I was able to route in a way to take up the extra foot of cable but it was pretty inconvenient. Second it turns good at lower speeds but once on plane it does seem to lock up sometimes and is a harder to turn. Don't know if that's normal with this setup as I'm coming from the older geared style of cable.Final thoughts I put this on a $1500 boat it's doing what it's meant to steer the outboard would I recommend ya I would for a cheap fix to a cheap boat. Now if your putting this one a 30k boat it might make it feel busted. Hope this helps someone😉
