A great choice for globe-hopping travelers and pilots, the unique Torgoen T8 men's watch includes three separate timing movements created by famed manufacturer Ronda of Switzerland, which enable you to track three separate time zones. This stylish timepiece offers a handy way for pilots to need to keep local time, destination time, and GMT (Zulu time) close at hand. Featuring a high-grade stainless steel watch case and sporty black polyurethane strap (with raised Torgoen lettering), this T8 (model T80102S05) has a black face with three separate tonal dials, each of which can be adjusted with separate crowns and not affect the other. The larger local time dial includes a mix of stick hour markers and Arabic numerals at the quarter hours, luminous hands (with red seconds hand), small minute indexes, and a date window at 3 o'clock. The other two dials (GMT on top, destination on the bottom) reside to the left and include two-handed movements. Other features include a scratch-resistant mineral crystal and water resistance to 100 meters (330 feet)--offering protection from accidental splashes as well suitable for swimming, snorkeling, and light recreational diving. It comes with a detailed instruction booklet. About Torgoen Founded by a group of aviation enthusiasts, Torgoen takes its timepiece inspiration from the cockpit, creating highly reliable instruments that have precise, clear markings for rapid readings day or night and ergonomically efficient controls. Careful attention is paid to details of every component, with all watch components required to pass the most stringent quality control procedures during and after production. Watches are tested under various extreme conditions including temperature variation, dust, humidity, impact and vibration. All Torgoen timepieces include high-quality Swiss timing movement, high-grade stainless steel cases, and non-radioactive, long-lasting luminescence. Simplicity, Boldness and Functionality Torgoen was founded by an enthusiastic private pilot, Benzi Rosenski. Rosenski, also a veteran of the watch manufacturing industry, combined these two passions to create Torgoen – Professional Pilot Watches. Rosenski envisioned a line of timepieces for pilots that are functional, affordable, well designed and durable. In 1998 the first Torgoen Swiss timepieces rolled off the production line. The name Torgoen is derived from Thor, the god of thunder in Nordic mythology, and Goen which is a derivative of “go”. The name symbolizes the boldness, functionality and simplicity of design (Thor) in time keeping devices (Goen). These principles guide the Torgoen team in the creation and updating of the line. Although the design of all Torgoen watches has functionalities useful for pilots, it is also perfect for ordinary people who appreciate tangible quality and no-nonsense, yet sophisticated design. The dials have numerals, markers and indexes inspired by cockpit instruments like altimeters and speed gauges. Cockpit instruments have been a subject of ergonomic studies that go back to World War II. This is part of the functionality and boldness that guides Torgoen. E6B Flight Computer – Useful also in the supermarket In many of its models, Torgoen uses an E6B Flight Computer based on the original design by the US army during World War II. The name was simply the Catalog part number of the device. It allows the pilot to easily solve problems of speed, distance and time. By knowing two of these variables, one can deduct the third with ease. This is based on a regular slide rule which was used by some of us that attended high school before the introduction of pocket calculators. It enables the user to perform any multiplication and division calculations. It is especially good while performing conversions of units and even exchange rate calculations. The watches come with a booklet in three languages with clear instructions of how to use the E6B and examples of how the E6B will help solve calculation problems. GMT (Zulu Time) – Keeping track of home-time for travelersTorgoen incorporated in many of its models another feature that is commonly used by pilots and favored by watch enthusiasts - a second time zone displayed in a 24 hour format. Communications between the cockpit and air traffic controllers always use GMT (Greenwich Mean Time) as a common standard. It avoids confusion by pilots arriving at an airport from different time zones. Every time zone in the globe has a designated letter. GMT was designated with the letter Z and pilots call it Zulu time since Zulu is the phonetic alphabet for Z. It is also useful for travelers crossing different time zones who wish to keep their home-time handy and easily displayed on their watches. Today the Torgoen brand includes 12 series in its line-up with over 61 different versions. "Considering the components and materials used, we feel that this brand is one of the best values in the market today". Torgoen Academy As part of the contribution and commitment to the aviation industry, Torgoen sponsors the Torgoen Academy for flight safety. The academy’s curriculum delivers specialized flight training to both private and commercial pilots that will increase aviation safety by teaching aviators essential recovery and survival skills not normally offered in either primary or advanced flight training. The Torgoen Academy’s training makes pilots safer by teaching them to deal with departures from normal flight, upsets due to turbulence and mechanical failures. Following a structured syllabus, pilots develop the ability to keep a cool head while applying techniques learned in the school’s aerobatic training aircraft to resolve the situation at hand. "We literally turn pilot’s upside-down in real airplanes in order to give them the confidence to fix the problem without the panic."

Big,, really big
love Torgoen quality,, customer service is great but watch is not only large in diameter,, but way over thick,, the band is very comfortable and feels solid, will last for years,, hands really do not glow up in dark,, my wish was it had 24 hour notations for military Zulu time instead of Meridian in a 12 hour dial,, really useless,, for a real pilot.. overall the watch looks and feels well made and I will buy from Torgoen again,, hint,, check on Torgoens own site before buying elsewhere, it is usually cheaper!,, soooo if you have a HUGE wrist, and need meridian or just a two timezone, go for it,,

Updated review: Torgoen went above and beyond
UPDATE 3/11/18: After contacting Torgoen once again, they are replacing our broken watch with a brand new one at no charge. At first they offered for us to select another watch of our choosing, but we really loved to look and features of the T8, so we asked if they could please search the warehouse to see if there were any T8s remaining. The representative honored our request and found a single T8 watch leftover in the warehouse. She sent it to their workshop to have it thoroughly tested for quality assurance and then FedEx'd it to us. As such, I have upgraded my review to 4 stars because Torgoen has bent over backwards to make this right. The new watch comes with a brand-new 4-year warranty and I was told that if this watch breaks, they will give us a full refund (from when I originally purchased the T8 in 2014), or allow us to choose another one of their watches. Ultimately, they have proven me wrong in regard to their customer service, which I now see is excellent. We're keeping our fingers crossed that the third watch is a charm.UPDATE 2/27/18: The replacement watch is now broken. The same winder fell off as the previous watch and the corresponding clock-face stopped keeping time. I have contacted Torgoen and they are unapologetic about our terrible experiences with their product and, once again, they are trying to brush me off by sending me to Saltzman. I am now downgrading my previous 3-star rating back to 1 star for repeated problems with this watch and a lack of customer care.UPDATE 3/11/15: Since writing the original review I contacted Torgoen directly and they replaced the defective watch with a brand new one. So far the new watch seems to be working correctly. The jury is still out on the watch but in the end Torgeon came through so I updated my rating to three stars.Original review of the Torgoen T8 watch:I purchased this watch as an anniversary gift for my husband and it has had nothing but problems since day one. First we noticed that it did not keep time correctly on two of the three dials. Then one of the winders fell off. We contacted the manufacturer, who instructed us to contact Saltzman Watches, who gave us the run around and tried to say that the broken winder was not covered under warranty. After much arguing with Saltzman they finally agreed to fix the watch without charge. Five months later the watch is not keeping proper time again - one of the dials is 20 minutes slow. I contacted Saltzman again this morning and they will not guarantee that the repair will be covered under warranty. We don't want it repaired, we want it replaced. This is a beautiful watch and we love the look and feel of it but the watch we purchased is clearly defective and no one will take ownership of that. We are extremely disappointed.

Great Chrono for Pilots & International Travelers
If you fly a lot (for a profession or just recreation) this is a great chronograph to have. Flight plans are usually submitted in Zulu Time (GMT) so it's always good have that that info. Having three separate chronos to track three zones (Zulu, Destination and local) is EXTREMELY helpful especially if you do a lot of time zone jumping or international flying.Pros:Nice heavy feel. Scratch resistant crystal. Easy to read display. Clean lines and bright luminescent hands on all three faces. Each movement is set independent of each other. Price was very reasonable for a Swiss made chronograph.Cons:Not a big fan of the black polyurethane wrist strap. It kind of makes it look/feel cheap in my opinion. (If you sweat it gets slippery/stinky and if you travel to hot climates, like I do, it's not ideal). Unfortunately the T08201 (which is the same timepiece but comes with a steel bracelet) is no longer available. Good news is you can buy a metal bracelet to fit the T8 series (24mm) or if you prefer they have multiple types of leather straps or nylon options as well at the Torgoen website: [...]Highly recommend this watch for anyone who does international travel. I've received a lot of great compliments on the watch every time I wear it.

Very distinctive watch
Very nice watch, very distinctive. Convenient to have 3 time zones in one place. The date is a bit small, but this watch is really about the time, and not the date. Feels weighty on the wrist. The polyurethane strap is surprisingly comfortable. I am currently wearing almost daily and it seems to be holding up well.

What a cool new watch! I love mine
I occasionally travel across time zones and am always looking for cool "GMT" style watches - ones with at least 2 time zones. When I saw this watch with 3, count them 3 time zones, I jumped all over it.Mine has a rubber strap. That's important to me because when I travel, I wear the same watch every day - rubber doesn't absorb perspiration like leather and I find it more comfortable that a steel bracelet. The size may be too big for some but for my medium to large frame, this watch looks and feels just fine. So far, it's been reliable and it keeps good time.Setting the main time zone is easy, the dials to reset the 2 secondary time zones are small and on the left side so they are a little more difficult to set. Visibility is excellent - good contrast between hands and dial plus the hands and numbers glow in the dark.I looked at the whole line - some very interesting watches in there. Torgoen looks like a winner. So why 4 stars? I would have liked an automatic rather than a battery movement.
