It works but beware the instructions
Problem number 1, box marked 15-watt, 12-watt ordered, 12-watt in the box.Pretty awful instructions, the usual Chinglish, but one is a bit scary.They advise removing the plastic cover if the lamp is being installed in a close fitting, to avoid over-heating.I got this in the first place to get rid of the scary halogens and over-heated CFLs.There is only one plastic cover, the clear plastic sleeve that comes between you and the bare LEDs.So I removed the end cap, easy, but it soon became apparent after removing the four screws, that taking the sleeve off was impossible without unsoldering some leads, not a good idea, then end up with bare LEDs and access to 240-volts.My advice would be leave well alone and even after an hours' running, it was still only warm, unlike the halogens that exploded on me or the CFLs that melted the last fitting.EditI forgot to mention that the instructions also tell you to screw the lamp in or similar. A bit tricky with a push-in fitting.For anyone changing lamp from CFL to LED, you will need to change the way it's wired. The new LED lamp does not use or need a ballast, so you need to remove or bypass the ballast. The lamp has 4 pins in the base, two on one side, two on the other. In the lamp itself, the pairs of pins are wired together, so effectively, it is a 2-pin lamp. Live and neutral 240-V AC supply goes straight to the pins and that's how it should be wired. It's not polarised so live and neutral can go either way round. If you wire your lamp any other way, you will get a straight short.
