Professional Microsoft IIS 8

Unless you're a total beginner, free online resources are better
Bought this because I felt I was having trouble finding the documentation I needed for IIS 8; after scanning through, I learned it provides more or less nothing that you can't find online. If you're not at all familiar with IIS, it might have some value, but if you've even worked with it casually as a dev or are familiar with earlier or later versions, do not bother.

Great in depth subject matter
In depth and applicable to most of IIS 6-7 as well. Gives a good big picture view of where MS is going with web services via the new IIS architecture and technology stack. Refer to it often as it contains a lot of information that's handy when working with this day to day, and has a lot of good recommended best practices.

Many fantastic features explained!
I bought this book for work to better understand advanced functionality and settings of IIS. In the past I was constantly frustrated with IIS as I came from an Apache/Linux web hosting setup previously. This book has taught me features I could not find on Google and has helped me figure out throttling and load balancing. This book life’s on my desk now and I use it weekly for reference.

A scarce resource! Much better editing than the IIS 7 edition!
This is information that is hard to find. There are only two books available for IIS 7 development that I would even look at. The prior edition of this book is one of them, but the editing and code examples made it clear that the book was a piece-meal effort. The IIS 8 edition is far more cohesive, well written and absolutely up to date!If you are administering IIS, this will be helpful. If you are extending IIS manager or the schemas of IIS configuration, this book is indispensible.

The bible on IIS
This is an amazingly detailed and clear book on the ins and outs of IIS. I've been administering IIS for years and still found a lot of useful information and things I didn't know. This book will get you from beginner to confident admin in no time. I don't know of a better book on IIS that I've found.

Solid
Read and browse the book carefully and you will have a step-by-step guide on what you can do to improve the site performance without to dig into the code.

Where are the page numbers?
There are no page numbers in the digital version. I am a student and our professor wanted us to read to page 38.

Good book
I had the previous book on IIS 7.0 and didn't like it much but felt this one was much better written. Easy to read and lots of good info.

Bits I wanted - not there
Sadly I can find no trace of "Classic ASP" or of "ADODB" Bought the book as a work of reference and particularly on these two points. Have got Classi ASP serving pages already - now struggling to access MS Access databases
