Good pocket measuring tape
This tape measure doesn't have a lock feature, but that's perfectly fine for it's compact size. The only issue I have with it is that it could have a slightly stronger spring. But otherwise it's a great proofing.

Just like the vintage tape
My 6 foot Lufkin pocket tape finally croaked after several decades of constant carry and frequent use, so I decided to go large, opting for the 10 footer this time. This new tape seems just as sturdy as the old one, so I have hopes it'll last as long as its predecessor. I'd pulled it out to full length a few times already without any untoward effects. I do have to agree that the lack of per-foot markings is annoying; the corresponding inch values are printed in bolder type, so maybe I just have to learn to divide by twelve -- or get out the Sharpie!

The BEST tool I use & carry!
I owned one of these for about 8 years now, no problems or issues at all. I wanted to get another, and indeed construction is as good & hasn't been "improved" or cheapened to the point of it being useless, like most things now-a-days.I began carrying a tape measure with me (in my back pocket) years ago, and this is the PERFECT tape for that. Don't even feel its there, and handy beyond belief. My other "not to be without" tool is a blade-replaceable cutter (new style box cutter) which replaced my expensive pocket knife. (After losing my favorite & expensive pocket knife, I started carrying one of these.)Many people at first are surprised that I carry around the tape measure (not so surprised about the knife, as it is more common a tool), but after being around with me for a while, they realize why. Being able to measure wood, tubing & such is one thing, but when I am ready to help them out measuring anything from a laptop computer, table, picture frame, material or anything else, they immediately are amazed that I was able to save them from buying the "wrong" sized item or not being able to get the information they will later need.I'm no "boy-scout" or "geeky type", but I have learned how handy this (& other) items can be, and how much of a hassle they can save me.There are other tape measures out there, but none are as small as this AND 10 FEET LONG! (They are all 6 feet, which is too short for many of the things we find needing to be measured!)I HIGHLY recommend getting one of these, & hope they will keep making these in the future.Try it out & you will realize how handy these can be!Don't leave home without it!

Almost very good but needs improvement
I've owned quite a few of these. Carried them for many years 17/7. People tease me, but I have to have my tape measure. This one has served me well. They last until the markings are worn off on the 3/4" to 1 1/2" area. Yes. They rub off right in the most used area of the measure. The only thing to do is pitch it. I don't know why this happens. Apparently, it "vibrates", or "rubs" on that portion of the tape when it is riding in your pocket. They need to figure that out and fix it. It would last far longer. Then they would get a 5 star rating.

Satisfied.
The tape measure struggles to retract at times, but other than, that it gets the job done.

Nice slim size for a woman to carry in her pocket or purse.
I really like the slim size of this tape measure to carry in my coat pocket. It is not bulky at all. There is no lock feature but you don’t expect one on a tape measure of this size. Easily fits in a small pocket or purse and is light weight. Exactly what I was looking for.

Difficult to use
The tape doesn't come pit or retract smoothly which makes it difficult to use. I was planning to replace the tape measure I bought at a dollar store but that one is actually better.
