Tarot of the Secret Forest (English and Spanish Edition)

I love old fairy tales like the Brothers Grimm. These pictures remind me of those types of stories. The book that comes with these is pretty useless. I intend to use this book with it, The Ultimate Guide to Tarot Card Meanings Kindle Edition by Brigit Esselmont. I use this book with most of my decks. The colored side is dark, so pick a well-lit spot for the reading, a kitchen maybe.The images seem to have been created with a tarot deck in mind. They are not just random pictures forced to work as a deck. The art was drawn to represent the cards of the tarot. The majors are just numbered, not named. I thought this would be more problematic, but my book has numbers so its pretty easy right off the bat. Pages, Knights, Kings and Queens have a handy symbol on them to help identify those. If you are a beginner, I'd pick up the book I mentioned with this deck, but go ahead and get it if it appeals to you.The cards are just right for easy handling and shuffling. Many decks handle painfully, but these are a joy to use. I riffle shuffle and these cards are just right for that. If you like impossible to shuffle card stock that is super thick and you have hands the size of a professional basketball player and want them huge, these are not for you. These are made for real people to use and enjoy. (Shadowscapes and the Faery Oracle cards by Brian Froud also handle well like this deck, in case you have found that this matters a lot as I have.)

This is not a beginners deck, but it does come with a booklet that you might fiend interested and are willing to learn with this deck. That is for sure. Since I saw it for the first time I've been searching on the internet for Tarot Of The DARK forest not ( Secret ) I l always call this deck the first name because it is alittle dark that I ABSOLUTELY LOVE. it is reversible and double sighted one with color and the other one the first sketches of the artist in black and white. I really love this Tarot Deck. So mistirious, dark, fairys in it but so well combined with the art that it is so wounderful. For mecatleast. Every ones taste is different. Over all. I LOVE IT.

This deck is pictures, nothing but that. There are no words on the cards, only roman numerals and symbols. If you don't know your basic tarot cards, I don't think that you and this deck will get along at all.I LOVE this deck, I have two cards from it tattooed on my calves. I knew the moment I saw it I wanted it to be my deck, and I purchased a different deck (Llewellyn by Ferguson) first knowing that I wouldn't be able to properly use this deck until I had a little more experience.The pictures on the cards are lovely, both sides are usable, which is another thing I like. Depending on my whims, I can cast in black and white or in color.The booklet that comes with it is pretty much useless, so again, I don't recommend this for beginners.

Absolutely love it! Beautiful and cleverly done. Decent print quality for capturing the paintings, not too glossy. Decent paper stock. FEasy to shuffle. Smooth, thought out pick by artist giving deck a nice flow. Wish box was a hard one to store and protect cards vs a tuck box, tho, as this is a keeper. Wouldn't have minded paying for a limited edition box set with a guide book. Afterall, deck is from 2005...Would like to be notified if happens

Art decks have their fans. Art decks can be very useful for the right reader who can impose their own visions upon depictions that are not rigid. The implication is that nature spirits are depicted doing secret forest things. The colors are earth toned. This deck is fully illustrated.

So these cards are very beautiful and they are two sided one side is only black and white while the reverse side is in muted color.I do find the artwork alluring and it's soft transports you even which in my opinion is important, what I do not like is the cards are not for people who are new to the tarot; they do not say which cards you are looking at, and I myself am not good with roman numerals, but you can figure it out if you look closely at the card. This is a good deck if you already are familiar with the tarot and or if you are an avid collector of tarot decks.

Extremely happy I found this deck. Unique deck with black and white artwork on the back and surreal scenes on the front. I purchased a previous Lo Scarabeo deck with this same artist and loved the artwork and that's what truly drew me to this deck! Great addition to my tarot collection.
