My dog will eat it!
I rescued a dog. She would eat nothing but cooked pork stew chunks. I tried and tried just about every dry dog food on the market, until a neighbor gave me a partial bag. Peanut the Plump actually LIKED It! And she started to lose weight from that fatty diet she was used to. This food is a tad more expensive, but well worth it to me, and to Peanut, the not so plump now, doggy!

Too much filler
Purina is known for their relatively inexpensive, lower-end pet food products. This grain-free product looks like an attempt to market something more upscale. It's a bit deceptive. The label "Beyond Grain Free" implies something better. But it isn't. While the product is truly grain free, and sells for a higher price, it is loaded with filler. To be fair, there are some good ingredients in here. And our dogs (one large, one small, one medium size visitor) ate the food happily with no adverse effects whatsoever. So if you use economy grade dog foods in the first place, this will represent something a little better. But due to the quantity of fillers like tapioca starch and others, we can't call this an upscale or premium dog food. Three stars. It just doesn't measure up to the hype.

not liked
Although my picky girl has been going crazy for the new canned high protein grain-free texas beef (and even likes the fish version too), she would not even eat one kibble of this. she just picked a couple of them up a handful of times and then just dumped them on the ground or in her living room bed for her humans to pick up.. i tried breaking one up with my fingers and couldn’t do so therefore my guess that is why she doesn’t like ‘em, they are too hard and have no airy crunchiness to them which is the only kibble types she will actually eat if she likes the flavor..quality seems good though so 4 stars for that. i don’t know if bigger bags have a ziplock/etc seal on them or not but, the 3lb i bought does not so that would of been an issue for me since high protein/fat kibbles stay fresher in their own special lined bags and i expect a quality pricey food to have that on their bags.

This kibble is fairly standard small size pieces rather than nuggets, so it’s appropriate for a wide size range of dogs. I got this for a 16 yo mixed breed dog weighing approximately 27 lbs. She’s gotten a little finicky the past couple of years without the competition of a second dog to keep her interested in her food (though she loves being an only dog, lol). Add in some age related health issues, and some days she’s not that interested in eating. She’s on the thin side of a healthy weight so I’m pretty focused on making sure she at least maintains her current weight, which I was hopeful the higher protein diet would help with. Note I’m aware of possible issues with a grain free diet, and it was never my intention to put her on this exclusively as it’s not necessary for her, but to see whether this would make a good addition to the kibble I currently use, as I prefer to rotate protein sources (typically lamb, chicken and beef, with an occasional fish or other protein thrown in). Also, while it’s recommended to make a gradual transition to new food, it’s never been an issue for her. She’s a typical dog in that a new food is more interesting than whatever she’s currently eating, so she scarfed down the initial offerings. She’s continued to show enthusiasm for this food as time goes on, preferring it over other kibble even though she’s been eating this for almost a month. Her weight, coat and energy are all good, so I’m calling this a total win and I’ll be adding this food to her rotation. 5 stars
