used it twice so far...works well. can be controlled by foot therefore is somewhat foot controlled. I owned another foot controlled minnkota and it was a nightmare. hope this one will last

Awesome ... great power and it very quiet

The Maxxum bow mount trolling motor seems fine. But I’m disappointed that I received a 5 speed motor instead of the variable speed Digital Maximizer that was clearly advertised on the Amazon product page. I’ve installed this 5 speed motor and don’t intend to return it unless it breaks sometime soon. Just be careful what you buy on Amazon and check the model number against the Manufacturer web site to be certain you’re getting what you think you’re getting.

I Purchased this trolling motor for a 19' Mako Pro Skiff, on the third fishing trip the trolling motor started operating intermittently and losing power. After a few minutes it stopped working all together. I called Minn Kota and was told by the person on the phone they did not know what was causing this and I should bring to my local authorized Minn Kota service center. When I dropped the trolling motor off the technician looked at it and said right away "that trolling motor is junk". He fixed the trolling motor in about 3 hours but when he called me to tell me it was ready he told me not to run the motor on speed 4 or 5 or it will melt everything in the motor every time. He told me that this problem is well known to Minn Kota. I should have been more careful before I bought it, I am now stuck with a trolling motor that I can't use on high speed when in strong currents or windy conditions. I Will probably deal with it until the warranty is up then get something else.

The riptide sm was an excellent price and cheapest on line. The only problem is when I finally got to install the batteries and tested the trolling motor the 5 speed switch was bad. Thank God I had instaled this trolling motor on a quick disconnect plate. I just took to a service center within 30 miles and let Minn Kota repair it under warranty. I wasn't about to take all my wiring hrness apart clip the wires off and unscrew my quick disconnect and ship it back to Amazon. Amazon doesn't give you any other option but ship it. I haven't even had the trolling motor in the water yet. I am to pickup my trolling motor today.

don't waste your time or money this trolling motor only lasted me 1 trip to the water and now its got to go in for repair already not what I would expect from a top name brand company like minn kota.
