Good thing because it works very well
I have no idea why I was drawn to this phone mount - I suppose opposites do indeed attract. Typically I would look at a magnetic mount with complete disdain and run the other way, but for some reason decided to give this one a shot. Good thing because it works very well.I'm using it with a Galaxy Note 4 with Speck case (with the ridges on the back, great case by the way). It gets mounted in a 2005 Mazda 6 with the circular-type vents that rotate. So, I rotated the vent to face upward and attached the mount. It attached perfectly and doesn't move. One minor drawback is that I couldn't place the magnet inside the Speck case, the case is just too thick, and the magnetism didn't work well (probably due to the ridges). But I used the attached 3M tape and just stuck it to the back of the case (after cleaning it). Works like a charm, won't fall off when driving, even when tapping hard on it or pressing the side buttons, even with the aux and charge cables connected. Don't even notice the magnet when holding the phone. (Oh, it came with a circular magnet and a larger rectangular one, I used the latter.) Another minor drawback is that you have to pick what will be blocked from view on your center console display (on my car, and I would assume a lot of others). That's because the Galaxy Note 4 is a ridiculously and pretentiously-sized phone. I chose the clock since there is one on the phone... and who cares what time it is anyways! It really is great. I had previously used all kinds of cradle-based holders and they were just such a pain for a variety of reasons, and the positioning in the car left a lot to be desired. This is perfect for my car, right next to the steering wheel, great for using GPS, and so on. Plus, you just place the phone on it. No cradle nonsense. However, depending on your vents, I could see it being less than perfect. Nexcon compensates for this within the design - the attaching arms gradually get bigger, so that they can fill various gaps of different cars' air vents. Haven't tried it in any other cars yet though.Purchased this for $8.99. Sold by Nexcon, fulfilled by Amazon. I have Prime so two-day shipping was free. But, as usual, Amazon's packing job was complete crap. Other than that I'm clicking my heels together and whistling Dixie.** Update: After a year or so, the metal plate came off the phone. Probably from the heat coming out of the car vent. I used gorilla glue to re-attach it, and now I don't think it will ever come off LOL.*** Update 2 4/4/2017: I bought a second one for a Mazda CX-5. It doesn't stay in the vent too well. The vent slats are a bit to thin, so when you pull the phone off it brings the mount with it.

False Advertising - Damaged Devices All Around
It says, plain English, "will not damage your device". Completely untrue. The first couple of hours after I started using it? Worked fine. After that, all kinds of craziness going on with my phone.1. This magnet is strong and will hold your phone in place...so long as you don't drive over anything larger than a pebble. The first time I hit a mildly rough patch in the street, my phone slipped off and fell into the floor board. This happens any time you hit a bump, pot hole, or anything else that is not completely smooth asphalt.2. The magnet may not "damage" your device in the most literal meaning of the word but I don't know or care to find out, not after what it did do to my phone. A. The touch screen stopped responding correctly then, it stopped working entirely. I had to shut my phone down and start it again three times before the touch screen started working again. B. After using to device in my car, which links via bluetooth, this weird screen that I have never seen before kept coming up. I am not even sure how to describe it. It was almost like a super-magnified screen of the navigation screen in my car (I have a 2015 Honda Fit which has a display screen where all of the phone, audio, navigation, etc. is). The weirdest part of that is, my phone should not show what is on the car's navigation screen as there is no way to link the two that way. Like I said, I am not sure what was coming up, but it was weird and, once on that screen, I had to completely shut my phone down then turn it back on for the screen to go back to normal. C. My battery life was shot. I had a full charge when I left for work the first morning and when I got to the office (about a thirty minute drive), the battery was at just over 40%. I had not used the phone for anything, not even audio as I had the radio on since I listen to ESPN in the mornings. I thought that, maybe, it was a fluke since my phone (HTC One M8) has always gotten pretty good battery life. Nope. I tried to charge it once I got to work and it took nearly three hours for it to charge just 20%. Usually, I get a full charge in that amount of time going from about 15 or 20%. D. I messed up other things that I had near it. My vaporizer is not working now, after having it in the same pocket of my laptop case. My key fob is acting strangely too. Sometimes the doors will unlock via the hands-free link and other times they will not respond. I have never had issues with either of these things and for both to stop working properly at the exact same time, right after getting this magnetic cradle? Too much to be coincidence.I am pretty upset. Sure, it was relatively cheap in initial cost, but I don't know what the cost is going to be now. I have to find out if my phone has been damaged (800$ or so phone), if my key fob will have to be replaced (who knows how much THOSE cost?) and I know I am doing to have to buy a new vaporizer battery (the good ones are not cheap and the one this thing messed up had cost me a good 75$ just a few months ago).Actually, scratch that. I am not upset, I am angry. I was stupid and though that 5-5 Star ratings meant that it might be a good deal. Wrong.Do Not Buy This Device.

Great Mount but with some compatibility issues
I bought this for my Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge. The metal plates fit nicely into the Incipio case that I have. The product works as advertised minus one issue that I had (see below). The magnet is strong. I took off one star because the clip is not as adjustable as I would have liked. It can be difficult to angle it the way that you want and the "Nexcon" logo is slightly crooked in my car with only bothers me because I am OCD.Issue: So this is more of a compatibility issue than a design flaw or manufacturer problem. I did not take away any stars for this but I wanted people who were looking to purchase to be aware. If you are using this with an Apple phone, you should be fine and this won't be an issue (mainly because Apple stays about 1-2 years behind in technology for phones). If you use any type of wireless charging, the metal plate that goes in the case to allow the magnet to work will block the magnetic resonance of a Qi charger. Basically my wireless fast charger for my Galaxy would not detect the phone when the plate was attached. It also comes with a smaller circular plate but my results were hit or miss. I would generally have to adjust it in the case or along the charger and it seemed to charge much slower. To get consistent results, I had to remove my case entirely, place the phone on the charger, and put the case back on each time I charged it. It's doable but a bit cumbersome in today's "on the go" society. Again, not an issue with the product's functionality and certainly not something I would expect a company making a magnetic mount to have tested. I just wanted someone looking to purchase this to be aware as I was not. I also tested it with an LG G5 with Qi charging with the same results.
