Good product.
I attempted to put it together with out reading the directions and failed. My husband took it apart and put it together the right way and works perfectly. We filled it with sand, because water leaks out of it. The cap locks, so don't twist it on until your ready, I learned the hard way.Once perfected, it is worth the money and gives lots of support for our 10 foot umbrella that we spent a fortune on. I like that it's plastic so it won't rust in our crappy weather.

Works, but careful when adding sand...
This has been working well, especially relative to the cost. It holds the umbrella up in all cases except when the wind is very strong. One issue to highlight: The cap that covers where you pour the sand in is one time use. Once you close it, you're done. You cannot open it again. That's not very helpful. So make sure you put all of the sand that you want in there BEFORE you close the cap. I filled it half way with sand and closed the cap to test it out...ooops. So I don't have as much weight in there as I would like. Still works though.

Tiny pebbles were the trick...
Love the low cost option this provides. However, I tried to get sand into it and was frustrating to say the least. Ended up buying a bag of pea gravel from the hardware store and that went right in without issue. Love how heavy and solid is.The crank to tighten the pole feels a little cheap and I'm always afraid I'm going to break it.

Basic physics
It seems hard to find a well design umbrella stand. It seems that designers of these need a basic physics course. It is not the amount of weight that you put into it, you have to put the weight far from the center, otherwise it is doing no good at all. So even filled with sand, it is not holding well even in moderate wind (unless you umbrella is very small). Furthermore the screw that "holds" the umbrella in place since in a small piece of soft plastic which is useless in holding the umbrella, so best not to even put the screw in (not to mention that the screw damages your umbrella pole badly). So what we did was wrap ducktape around the pole so that it fits snugly. Still, do not buy unless you have a very small umbrella or the wind never blows.

would buy again if needed
it is exactly like the picture. Held water just fine and held onto my umbrella, glad I bought it

Nice stand.
This stand works as advertised. Shipped without filling to save on shipping charges. This means that you must add your own sand. Very easy to do with a funnel. Works well with our 9 foot patio umbrella. Would recommend.

Not a stand alone. Poor quality.
Not to use as a stand alone. Very cheap. It needs support, as it breaks easy where the umbrella is inserted. Best as a table stand assessory.

Good base! Would buy again.
Needed a base with a post for a "beach type" of umbrella for over a sandbox. This is a good base and I would buy it again.
