Shutters are plastic and come with plastic "bolts". Throw these away. Use metal bolts that are long enough to get into the wood, but don't tighten all the way. Oh, they say that painting these voids the warranty. I said, "So what?" and painted them anyway. They look great. Engineering wise, these shutters were terribly made. But...they last...they're good looking on the house, and I enjoy them... AFTER the modifications I made. I wrote the company and told them what I had done...they never responded. I guess they don't care.

Performing the task and looking good doing it! They are a little flimsy before installation, but then, strength equals weight and weight equals pain. On a plastic louvered shutter, that's unnecessary.I am completely satisfied with this product and the resultant look of the update.p.s. I painted mine to match my navy blue trim (I don't need a warranty on something so inexpensive) - I used Krylon K04290000 Camouflage With Fusion For Plastic Paint Technology Aerosol Spray Paint, 11-Ounce, Camouflage Black as a base coat - one can per pair of shutters. It bonds with plastic and offers enough "bite" for exterior enamel to bond with it.

They were what I expected and replaced an old and broken set. The plastic fasteners that were included were scrapped in favor of metal screws.

Very flimsy thin material, and can not be painted, it didn't say that in description. Would not us this as exterior item!
