Nice Scale, Issues with Mine
This scale had a few irritating features that caused me to buy a different one. Fairly often it tended to flicker between two values for the weight, and so the price would also flicker. The manual addresses this issue, suggesting to re-power it. This worked sometimes, didn't others. The fact that it is in the manual suggests that this is a constantly recurring issue and one I was not willing to accept as normal. Two other minor problems for me: The sheet metal edges are sharp along the bottom side where I tended to pick up the scale. I had to be careful to not cut myself each time I moved it. Second, the platform has four bosses attached to the bottom. These set inside of four rubber mounts when placed on the scale. There is no way to slide the top around to get it to settle into the rubber gaskets, so you have to tilt the top and carefully align them (as I said, a very minor issue). There are some nice features for this scale including the large platform, very nice! This scale measures only in pounds. I would have liked to be able to measure in ounces as well. For those of you considering this scale, there is a way to get the measurement in ounces if you do not need the price computing feature at the same time: simply set the price to $16.00 which means $16 per pound which is also the number of ounces in a pound. Now when you weigh an item the price field will show the weight in ounces (also set the P-pack to keep the price between items). Similarly you could set the price to $454 to have the price field read out in grams. There may be some loss of resolution with this method, but it is a fast and easy work-around.

nice budget scale..does the job.
I debated between this Torrey LPC-40L and the CAS-2000 After ordering this one and the CAS, I had a battery issue with this one, I got this one first and really did love it.. until I tried to use it unplugged and with the battery as it wouldn't work. I'm sure it was just a bad model & it was returned with no problem. But, before the battery issue using it I really did enjoy it. The issues i did see where that that although compact it is quite heavy and in comparison to the only slightly more costly CAS it more heavy and larger. I love that you can remove the top "table" but.. it comes off to easily. It would come off if it was bumped or if a heavy item was placed on the edge it would flip. there is no way to secure this easily or firmly. The CAS secures with rubber feet and does not seem to have this issue.I do love that it can weigh up to 40lbs where as the CAS is only 15lbs this is a great benefit.. but for me not enough for me to go with it as my chose.. because of the final comparison...The number one issue i thought was the deciding factor was that the Torrey does not measure in Oz at all. but only in Lbs. I know for some this my not be any issue at all. But for me it became an issue when I would try to measure smaller quantities of items at lower weights... I ran into several times when I was below it's minimum weight. The CAS does however measure in Oz as well as Lbs.Both have great pricing abilities, printer ports, backlights, front and back displays as far as what exactly they do, they both technically do the same thing.. aside from the fact that the Torrey measures up to 40lbs, CAS only up to 15lbs.. Torrey only in Kg & Lbs, CAS in Oz as well./ lower measurements.Just as a side note... when the CAS scale arrived before I shipped the Torrey back, having the two side by side.. it was by far clear the higher quality of the two scales and the better made of the two. visually and when handling them. The CAS does cost more, but there is a reason.. you are getting more quality with it. overall, it appears to be a higher quality scale.. just nicer made. I feel like it was worth the money to upgrade to the CAS, but.. that being said... the Torrey was certainly a perfectly acceptable scale and had I not had the failed battery I would have never known the great quality of the CAS and would have liked the Torrey... knowing what I know now though.. I pick the CAS even given the tight budget I am on... it was worth the added cost. (all of this assuming the battery issue I had was a one time fluke and not a regular issue among products)

Worked at first, but quit within 30 days
The scale worked at first, but has an error code that will not clear. I has been a few days over 30 days, so Amazon won't let me return it.Amazon does not show a warranty for this item and the Torrey website doesn't show a warranty or a support page. I have sent a message to Torrey on their website, I will just wait to see if they respond. As of right now, I would say don't buy this product.Update 6/17/17 -- Took the scale to a local shop that sells and repairs scales. He took the cover off and reset something and it works now.He only charged $20.00 to fix it and said it is good scale. If you buy it and it goes bad, make sure to return it before the 30 days is up.

Missing recharging cord
Easy to operate. Professional looking. Bought over a year ago and after using on and off for about 15 months the battery finally died and I realized I don’t have a cord to recharge it. This scale which has a rechargeable battery came without a cord to recharge it. I feel kind of stupid for not checking right away when I got it but I was just really excited to have a newscale. The scale itself I originally gave 5 stars, but I had to edit my rating to 2 stars because of the company not packing the recharging cord. Now I am having a hard time finding which cord to order, and I have an expensive scale I can’t use until I get a cord. I’m not NOT recommending this scale, just make sure you get everything in the box right away when you get it.

A Scale that measured up to my expectations:)
I have a produce booth at a farmers' market and just had a regular scale. So it took quite some time to calculate each items weight and price. That's why i bought this scale. Read the reviews and decided it was the one for me. Had the options and the PRICE! I've used it for 2 weeks now and it sure has sped things up. Now i get to interact more with my customers instead of trying to figure out prices. Very easy to program. Only down side is the instructions are written tiny and low res. Tough to read that way. Up the price by a $1 and make the instruction sheet bigger and clearer is my only suggestion. But i REALLY like my scale. Great ITEM!
