Perfect for early readers
Some children's books are outright fabulous and you can enjoy reading them with your kids because they successfully "entertain young and old." (See The Wild Robot, for example)The Hilda books are not that. They are perfect for kids looking to get comfortable reading chapter books. Adults will find them un-offensive but not exciting. They are certainly well written for what they are, and the graphic novels have a delightful balance and color palate with a visual sense of wonder and urgency. They are really good. The books are good. Not "instant classic" amazing, but very good for what they are.

A nowhere space? Well, every home has one.
What in heck is a “Nowhere Space”? Well, every home has one. It’s the place where all the lost keys, and candy, and homework, and missing socks go. It’s the space where your house spirit lives. Again, every house has one.Hilda sometimes feels like a loser. She’s been unable to earn any merit badges in Sparrow Scouts, not only failing but failing miserably. As the book opens she preparing for a final try at earning a Camping Badge when the group goes to the Camp Sparrow camp site. Preparing and planning for the trip she and her friend David meet Tontu on the street. It turns out he’s a fuzzball house spirit and Hilda invites him to her home.Well, from that time forward there’s nothing but havoc. Tontu pulls Hilda into the Nowhere Space and they cross paths with Baldy who is Hilda’s official house spirit. This book is so much fun to read. One of the big pluses is that there’s a two page map of the town and it’s surrounding at the front of the book so the young readers can follow along. This book has everything going for it. Friendships, a little spooky adventure and, of course, a really cool girl who wants to turn her losing streak around.

Great Positive Story for ALL Readers!!
I came across Hilda on Netflix and found it to be an entertaining and fun cartoon. I enjoyed watching it as it was calming and sweet. When I found this book, I thought it would be a perfect read after a heavy day. I am an adult and enjoyed this story as much as the targeted audience. It is also the perfect book to go alone with the TV series.Hilda and the Nowhere Space is an adventure into camping and earning badges. I loved the description of the badges and the ordeals that Hilda went through to get them. I LOVED that Hilda never gave up and that she was strong enough to know that sometimes you just have to keep at something to make it work. There is life lessons lightly buried within this fun story. We meet some fun creatures along the way and learn a bit about Hilda and her inner workings. I loved the variety of creatures, the dialogue and the illustrations (while this is not a graphic novel it is still wonderfully illustrated throughout). At 180 pages, this a wonderful chapter book for younger aged kids to get into a reading adventure with. I know that my niece will love this story and I am happy to be able to give her a positive story that gives her adventure, lessons, creativity and fun!**I would like to quickly note that the images in the attached photos are copyrighted to the author and the publisher. I have included them in this review to show the wonderful illustrations.**

Great Unique Characters and Storyline
My 6.5 year old daughter loves this series. This is the third book we have purchased. It’s a really cool and unique story line and characters and I find it to be a wholesome enough book for a 6.5 year old who is an advanced reader. I love that she is so eager to read and can’t put it down instead of bugging to watch tv.

Excellent Adaptation of Netflix series
Story is based on Netflix series but consequences and details are different.Compared to Netflix series, Hilda seems to be less confident of herself (she cries several times in 3 books. I think she cries only once in Netflix series) and have more difficulties in adapting to trolberg, school and sparrow scout. Also, people around Hilda seems harsher to her.I enjoyed reading 3 books, but some people may not like differences from original.

8 year old loves this series
My son has torn through all three books in this series and absolutely loves them. We have number 4 on pre order and November cannot come quick enough. He has talked about hilda’s adventures non stop. Aesthetically I find the illustrations quite pleasing too, lovely dust cover!
