Ortega Guitars Ukulele Stand Accessories - Stand Holder for Ukulele and Mandolin - Metal, Black (OMUH-BK)

Being a multi-instrumentalist is a ball-ache. But these little beauts make things 40% better. For years I’ve been looking for a solution to taking lots of ill-fitting guitar stands to gigs, or cluttering up the stage with open guitar, mandolin or ukulele cases with Jack leads sticking out of them. I’ve tried a mic-stand violin clamp before, but the screw-on fixing wasn’t strong enough to up a tenor Uke or a mandolin. These German-designed clamps however, are sturdy as heck and I have no concerns hanging my favourite little guys in them. Once attached to your mic stand they have no slip, wobble or lean and you can put things in and out quickly and easily.They won’t stop your bandmates rolling their eyes or starting songs without you whilst you have to tune more than double the amount of strings that they have, but they certainly make the change overs a lot easier and the stage a lot tidier - and fit in your rucksack when you’re done! Great purchase.

First impression:👀 The holder looks substantial enough and is exactly right for small instruments. I tried it with my ukuleles and mandolin and it worked a treat. You don’t have to clamp it too tight for it to hold on a music stand at 30mm diameter. In fact, when I folded the stand, the holder can pivot and fold flat against the back of the stand, which is really useful to me. The instrument holder is just under 40mm and foam padded. If your instrument is a few mm beyond that, it will still fit. The ends are upturned to keep the instrument in place and capped for protection.👀 Fitting is straight forward. The lamp is spring loaded so it will immediately attach in the desired place, then all you need to do is tighten the hand wheel to make attachment firm.What I liked:✔️ Easy to fit and the holder will fit most sizes of music or microphone stand. I tried it with some of mine with no problem.✔️ If you leave the holder not completely tightened down, you can fold it to one side on the music stand for transport. See the pictures for what I mean.✔️ Fitted my ukuleles and mandolin exactly and the holder does not interfere with the tuners so removal if the instrument will not cause an embarrassing detune at the wrong moment.✔️ Good value over a standard music stand and takes up far less room.Anything I didn’t like so much:❌ Nothing. It’s a great holder.Conclusion:✅ I prefer such a holder on the music stand for an alternative instrument in case a string breaks, and a floor stand for what I am playing. If you use this on the mic stand then some noise in the mic is inevitable taking the instrument on and off the holder.
