Throughout time, many things change. A few, however, never do. Work doesn't look like it used to. Suits aren't necessarily the uniform, and Johnston & Murphy knows it. Since 1850, Johnston & Murphy has made shoes that work in the corner office, and play at the corner bar. They realize that men today have to walk the line between modern and classic, cool and comfortable; and believe there is room for uniquely American design, modern form, and hand craftsmanship at any size. Johnston & Murphy has helped professional, affluent men dress to impress for more than 156 years, and are not finished yet. Much has changed since 1850, the names, the styles, the locations. But through it all, one thing has been constant: Johnston & Murphy has remained a pillar of classic workmanship, and a beacon of American style, maintaining a commitment to quality, craftsmanship, and innovation that set the standards for men everywhere.

If the shoe fits...
I hate shopping for shoes in stores, and this was my first purchase of Johnston & Murphy shoes on-line. (I bought these in August 2014.)Since I had purchased Johnston & Murphy shoes before, and know my size, I took a gamble with Amazon. I bought the tan version of this shoe. These shoes look great and fit me perfectly - there were no problems at all, straight out of the box and took no time to "break in". I wear them a couple of times a week with dress clothes for work. When they are "off duty", I use cedar wood shoe trees to help them keep their shape and fit. I've still got some older Johnston & Murphy loafers (black) that are at least 10 years old, and that have been re-soled and re-heeled probably half a dozen times. The uppers still look good, so I'm expecting the same with these shoes. Frankly, I do not see any decrease in the quality of the leather or construction.

Tan Leather
Looked great when I 1st got them, but now after 3 weeks not so great at all. Like the above write-up these shoes went bad quick, really they did!! The creases will not polish correctly and the shoes is coming apart from the sole at the ball of the foot area. ITS BEEN 3 WEEKS!!! I've not ever had this problem with Johnston Murphy shoes before so I'm am going to give it another shot, but these one's I have now are going back...

Great looking Shoes
I bought these shoes for my husband who is a loyalist to Johnston & Murphy. He has large feet, and these always work well for him. True to form, these arrived and fit as expected. Some J & M styles can size differently, but this one was spot on. They are well made, good looking, and I know they will last a very long time.

Five Stars
Quality comes at a price. If quality is important, then these shoes are for you.

Pricy and dubious quality
These shoes are expensive, very painful to break in and are of dubious quality. They take forever to break in and hurt badly during the process. The leather scuffs easily and shows creases quickly. Your money might be better spent elsewhere. ITEM UPDATE: I have had these shoes a while now and they are killing my feet, and the part of the shoe that flexes is showing signs of discoloring. Have left four different blisters as well.

Vauter Tassel loafer
J&M shoes are always a good fit for my feet which are a 8.5 D. Good leather but not high quality but will last a few years if you rotate your shoe wear.

Shoe too tight
Good looking shoe but too tight on the instep. Wore them next day after delivery, but instep was sore all day. Perhaps the band around the vamp is too tight. I'll consider having them stretched.
