What is the underside of the dishes like? Is it glazed or rough and so might scratch the plate it's stacked on?

There is glaze on the bottom of the dishes and ours (after six weeks) have held up very well. There is a "ring" of ceramic on the bottom, but it appears to have a lighter coating of glaze and our dishes show no sign of scratches or marks of any kind. I took a few pictures to help everyone see, but I can't see the route to upload them, only videos.

Are these pieces completely round or oblong?

The dishes, as stated, are artisan in style. They are circular, but imperfect in shape. In other words, if a person were to draw a circle freehand, roughly 8 or10 inches in diameter, that's roughly what the plates look like. They are not oblong, just not done with a compass.
