is the fabric on this binder water resistant?

We ordered them for our fleet trucks. They are really durable and the manager is really impressed and happy with them. I think they are water resistant because we keep all the important paperwork in them. But I am not positive.

Does this fit in a backpack?

Yes. In a large backpack. My daughter is 6th grade. Her middle school requires all students to carry a 3" 3 ring binder to each class period. All the students carry these around using the shoulder strap. She carrys this with 7 spiral notebooks, 7 folders, 2 marble composition notebooks inside, zipped up and it fits in the large Jansport backpack to and from school.
