Both sides work very well.
Why did you pick this product vs others?:These pedals are fabulous. I used them on my first century and when my knee started hurting a bit unclipped and used the flat side for a few miles. They are heavy, so if you are looking to drop weight these are not it.

Worry free transitions
As a newer cyclist, and leisure at that, these pedals are great to help with transitioning to clip in. I ride in a big community ride each year. This allows for fast uncoupling and easy start up with the flats until I can balance enough to reclip in. I’m not worried about falling with this addition to my bike.

Clip plates come loose and squeak loudly
Made of sturdy aluminum and hold up well. Easy to clip in/out. The bearings could be better as they don't spin freely very well; it seems they have a bit of friction when I try to turn them freehand. The clip plate also comes loose all the time and I have to tighten them down. They squeak loudly when they're not tight and it's very annoying.If you buy these, first thing I'd suggest is to take the clip plate off, put on some thread lock, and tighten them down hard.
