RAM is one of the first companies that produced these for whatever you want to use them for, so they're the industry standard as far as quality. They're all sized to use the same dimension (like 1 inch) so you can mix or match components as you wish, or change the length of the connector to better suit your job with confidence. These short connectors work for just about anything, and they're less expensive now than they ever were before. I like how easy it is to take them apart and reassemble, thanks to those little springs allowing you to push the ball-head into the connector without having to juggle or have an extra hand. The hold is adequate, but as you use them that only becomes better as the balls become more rounded and roughened-up on a surface-level for a better grip.

Always a good choice for a strong hold. My use was for an iPhone 14 small version and it worked fine in a horizontal connection to a quadlock.

This is a compact double socket arm. I have several RAM products, including the longer double socket arm and also a RAM Double Socket Swivel Arm for 1" Ball Bases. It all depends upon your install as to what you may require. This product has a shorter range of positional adjustment. The longer double socket arm affords a little larger range of motion, but it sacrifices the shorter length, if that's a factor in one's application. The double socket swivel arm affords more flexibility of range of adjustment, however it's a little more bulky. Each application is different, so it all depends on its requirements and one's sense of utility. RAM also makes double socket arms constructed entirely of metal. In the event that one anticipates mounting fairly heavy devices in situations that may involve vibration, such as in vehicles, it may be well to consider the all-metal double socket arms. They are available directly from RAM on its website. Otherwise, if this item fits one's need in size, adjustment range and weight-bearing capacity, it's a good option and, of course, is fully compatible with other RAM products.An aside: One of the RAM products with which I have some experience is wholly inadequate for many applications in my opinion. Especially high temperature applications. In the right situation and with some additional precautions, it is workable, but it all depends upon the application in which it is to be installed.

I recently changed from a BMW R1200RT to a Triumph Trophy. One thing I liked about the RT was the ability to mount my 8" Oukitel tablet on the OEM GPS mount using an adapter. I found the Triumph's GPS mount placed the tablet too high, so Ion the suggestion of a friend, I tried my first ever Ram mount. I used a M6 threaded mount into the steering nut, then this piece, and finally a ball adapter I 3D printed when the one I bought was unavailable. This adapter attaches to a BMW GS GPS mount that provides 2x USB ports, one powers the tablet and the other a controller for my heated gloves. This mounts the tablet low, yet it's still easy to see GPS navigation while riding. The Ram mount is very secure.I'm very pleased with the Ram setup.
