I wanted the CD for use in my car. My BT kind of sucks. Anyways....I dont like modern surf music very much. The Ventures, and Dick Dale wrote the book on surf music and the Ventures are still out there playing and killing it...Long live the surf guitar...

Excellent collection. I first discovered the the Ventures in 1972 while raiding my parents record collection. I believe it was their Golden Hits collection. My brothers and I played the grooves off that record and a few other Ventures records. They quickly became a big part of the soundtrack to my childhood. In previous years (1990s/2000s) while browsing at record stores, when I was lucky enough to come across their albums and cds (that were not out takes, poorly recorded live performances or throw away tracks) the asking price was always too high to the point of unreasonable, so I stopped looking. I'm extremely happy I decided to start checking again. I got a great price, service and a collection of music that exceeded my expectations. Of course the songs that should be picked to make up a greatest hits collection will vary from person to person, and there are some missing from my version of a gh collection. Nonetheless these 2 discs are a fine overall representation of the Ventures career. They are not just a surf band- they are THE surf band. And yet, the label surf band does not do justice to their talents and musical contributions, which is impressive if you look at all the recent past and present day musicians that credit them as an influence. Their covers are tastefully done, and in many respects equal to or (to my musical tastes) preferable to the originals. For the 50 plus crowd, listening to this collection is truly a walk down memory lane that I guarantee will put a smile on your face. For the 50 and under crowd, this collection is a great introduction to not just the Ventures, but to all the great music of that period. Some standout tracks- Walk, Don't Run, Perfidia, House of the Rising Sun, Strawberry Fields and many others. Remastered with great sound quality, well mixed with variety of music genres and tempos this collection is interesting from beginning to end. What more do you want for the price? Pull the trigger, buy the disc and discover just how great these guys are. They're in the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame for good reason. Good day.

A 50 song collection for this price is a very good deal. It's a nice selection too. Sure, there are some songs I wish were included but weren't, but overall I am very happy with this purchase. My parents used to listen to the Ventures a lot when I was a kid. They had a greatest hits LP of them. I am a musician myself and I do a lot of instrumental music. The music I do is more along the lines of hard rock but I think a lot can still be learned from the Ventures. After all, even to this day, they are still the most popular instrumental band ever, with over 110 million albums sold. They often take songs that have been performed before by others and do their own interesting take on them. They do an excellent version of "House of the Rising Sun", which is part of this collection.Probably the song that most caught my ear as a child was "Walk don't Run." That's actually their first hit song. From what I have read, when they recorded it, they shopped around for a record company to distribute it but were rejected by all of the ones they had contacted. So the mother of one of the band's members started her own label and they released the single and it became a hit. When they first recorded the song, they didn't even have an official drummer. They used a session drummer and offered him the choice of receiving royalties or just a flat fee of $25 dollars for the session. He opted for the $25 dollars. Then the song became a major hit. He tried to sue for more money later but he had no case since he had already opted for the $25. So be careful in the choices that you make as a musician.

I am a fan of both the 50's and 60's music, and like the Ventures, but somehow this collection was disappointing.I found tracks like "Walk, Don't Run" and "Hawaii 5-O" delightful, but quite a few others were not nearly as entertaining.One of the biggest problems I have with this item is that the tracks sound compressed and not dynamic.This took a lot away from the music...

Una muy buena selección de The Ventures. 50 tracks en dos CDs. Algunos de los temas son Walk don't run, Perfidia, Delilah, Apache, Mission Impossible, Batman theme, La bamba, Hawaii five-0, Blue moon and entre otras. A un buen precio y con entrega antes del tiempo estimado. Mi único pero es que no me gustan que manden CDs o películas en sobre, pero los CDs llegaron en excelentes condiciones.
