Linnea in Monet's Garden

We gave this lovely book to our 13-year-old granddaughter to help prepare her for our trip to Paris. Not only did Monet's garden and house come alive to her, but she also had a much greater interest in visiting the famous Orsay and Orangerie Museums to see some of the artist's gorgeous works. Although our granddaughter was a bit old for Linnea in Monet's Garden, it was a perfect way to spark enthusiasm. She even took art supplies with her so she could sit and sketch while we sat near that famous lily pond!

One of the most beautiful parts of this book are the illustrations. Literally the first page of illustration was carelessly ripped out. I know this is a used book and damage is to be expected but this level severely impacted our ability to enjoy it. It's a book about a famous artist, what is the point if the art is ripped out.

One of my teachers read this to our class when I was young, and I loved it. I fell in love with Monet's impressionist style of art, and have been an admirer ever since. I wanted to be Linnea in his garden. Traveling there is still on my bucket list. I was so excited to find this book on Amazon! It has a permanent place on my bookshelf.

The art is beautiful and the reading is wonderful for my 4 year old who loves learning about art and colors

I love the illustrations in this book and the short snippets about Monet. Having been to his home in France and walking through his garden of endless colorful flowers and the lily pond, this little book is a perfect introduction to a visit for children. This is a real gem.

Re-arrangement of some pages and slightly larger format than earlier editions. Lovely, informative book that uses engaging story, photos, and delightful watercolor illustrations to stimulate sensations familiarity actually being there. Artfully combines history and youthful point of view.

This book is for much older children who really want to learn something about art history. It also mentions the death of Monet's first wife.

This is a beautifully illustrated book. I used it with year 3's to tie in with their overriding French theme, the book then linked in to MFL (French), Literacy (reading & adventure stories), Art (Impressionism) etc. The book is a fiction story but also has non-fiction within it (about Monet's life) and mentions various French places and sites of interest. The children really enjoyed this book, although admittedly the girls were more enthusiastic about it than the boys (there is lots about flowers and the main character is a little girl).

Delighted to receive Linnea in Monet's Garden to give as a 7th birthday present. Both enlightening and educational with lovely illustrations, this book continues to be popular over the decades and rightfully so.
