Do the cars actually work?

They're decorations. The wheels spin, but not effectively enough to use as toys for long. Mario and Luigi don't peg onto the karts in a tight enough manner to actually stay on. The engine mufflers fall off also.

They do not run by themselves. They’re sort of like plastic hot wheels. The tires rotate when you push the car by hand.
