So decided to try Gehwol. To my surprise it acted within days and softened the hard skin where the nail was in-growing allowing me for the first time to access the offending nail. I have been giving the skin a few days to recover and then applying the fluid again to remove the next layer. After a month or so the results are very promising with the toe reducing in size considerably (reduced amount of skin) and the swelling that was painful. It will remain to be seen if the nail continues to in-grow or whether Gehol has softened it sufficiently to stop this. The reason it didn't get a five was because I am not yet sure it has provided a long term solution.
