13 wide is about right, price here is great
So my problem is 90% of shoes like to squeeze my big toe in, and it is uncomfortable... so I started buying a 1/2 size up plus wide which helps some. These shoes just came in yesterday just very slightly give me this issue on day 1, but I think if I adjust the laces perfectly I am good. The good:The price here is about 20 bucks cheaper than a store down the road, so that was nice. They have that already broken-in soft feeling where you toes actually press the front of the shoe down, thank goodness.Seem sturdy and the cleats look good for hiking. The bad:I can't say for sure, but maybe nothing here if my big toe will stay happy, we shall see. They are definitely HOT when you are not in the mountains, but that's to be expected for these types of waterproof hiking boots. The ugly:Nothing I can think of. Haven't tested the waterproofness, but I'm just looking to avoid snow wetness and very slight mud so I bet it'll be fine.

Comfort and grip
Not disappointed. Comfortable, robust, and grippy. Can walk all day in these. My last pair lasted five years and took me through Europe and many trails here in Australia. These are a newer and upgraded version and so far after about 120 km of trails, they are killing it. Highly recommend.

Very satisfied with these boots
I am just beginning to take up hiking and after a bit of research decided on these Merrell boots. One of the key features that influenced my decision was that they are waterproof. I live in the Pacific Northwest and winter and spring seasons tend to be pretty wet. I've been on a few hikes and have found these boots to not only be waterproof, but well made and comfortable as well. I will admit that in a previous review (since deleted) I got it wrong. Turns out walking through very wet tall grass water will get in through the ankle, I don't think any waterproof boot would have prevented this. On subsequent hikes my feet stayed completely dry. I even "retested" them by aiming a shower head directly on them and still 100% dry on the inside. As I mentioned above, I found these boots to be very comfortable, even on longer hikes. I've hiked on a variety of terrain including pavement, dirt, sand, gravel, and river rock and found the traction to be more than adequate. Sizing seems to be accurate as well and having wide feet found the wide width shoes to fit my feet perfectly.I highly recommend these boots.
