The book to own for bag makers! 💕👜
I have a small handmade bag business and I am over the moon about this book! It covers a comprehensive amount of bag styles, bag anatomy, process, fabrics, care, templates, and measurements. They also have a great chapter on recommended books, trade fairs, and spec sheet examples. It covers topics that I didn’t know that I should know.

Every kind of bag you can imagine here
This is a book to illustrate all the different kinds of bags there are and only drawings but very detailed with top and bottom, sides, backs and fronts. Great purchase for my leather shop.

This is what I needed!
As someone who is going down the path of product design, I needed something that would help me reference examples of handbag features while I sketch. This book is definitely something that is helping me while I draw my designs in more ways than one. I didn't go to school for fashion design or graphic work. I'm just using my God-given talent to draw and my passion and using the resources around me and I'm really happy I bought this book to push me forward on my journey. I would recommend buying it. Something in it can help you I guarantee it.

I LOVE THIS BOOK!! This book has some AMAZING information in it and templates to help with ideas... I do wish that the book had more information than it did pictures but it’s still an amazing book to have

It Feels Incomplete
For starters I will say I am new to the accessories world as a new designer and was looking for something to bridge all of my newfound knowledge together. I was specifically looking for advice on proper pattern making for bags and after looking at various book reviews this seemed like it would do the job. There are a lot of pieces of extremely informative details of the bag making process that I quite appreciate. However when it comes to the patterns included in the book, I found them to be extremely limited. There is a section for bag patterns which includes only 6 patterns, and they are missing dimensions. This is quite a huge omission. Even if one wanted to size the patterns to their liking, I feel there should be at least a base set of measurements for each pattern. These patterns do breakout the pieces needed to construct the bag, as patterns should. There is then another section names bag templates which is what I so hoped would achieve what the patterns section did not. Unfortunately this is not the case. This section provides different views of a lot more types of bags but is ultimately even less helpful than the patterns as it is ultimately just more pictures of the same. I do see use in this as far as creating renders go, but from a design/construction standpoint it feels a little unnecessary. The book then goes on to include a common measurements section which is very welcomed, but not as in depth as I would like. All in all I am happy I purchased this book for general info but will continue to look elsewhere for pattern design knowledge. If Fashionary creates a second volume of this that goes more in depth into patterns I would pick it up in a heartbeat.
