The Brook P5 PLUS is industry leading with it's best in class latency and easy to install nature.This was my first time doing a Motherboard/PCB Mod for my HITBOX and had little no to trouble installing this fine piece of hardware. I paired this motherboard with Brooks Fighting/HITBOX Cables to make installing easy without the need to cut cables, crimp, or solder, etc.I normally play in Xinput via PC. I was originally using a Brook FGC Wingman to compete at Locals which normally sports PS5 Consoles, however I noticed even with it's latest firmware + tournament mode settings, the delay was insanely noticeable and made me not be able to perform at my best. I dropped combos, and couldn't even do Perfect Electrics in TEKKEN 8 in my local brackets, which I'm confortable doing with my eyes closed at home 70% of the time when paired natively to my PC. I needed a solid solution.The only way to really be at your best, is with hard remedies and full on PCB Mods to combat the latency delay with the use of converters. That's where Brook's latest Fighting Board iteration comes in clutch. The Brook P5 PLUS is a Flag Ship Board. It makes updating firmware (for stability and latency improvements) VERY EASY and comes with every port you could possibly need to wire up your Arcade Stick or Leverless. Installing a PCB into your controller really helps with the quality of life of a traveling competitor. You really just get to enjoy a Plug and Play feel and despite PS5 still having some delay, you don't feel at a disadvantage compared to being on a Converter. You feel like you can just play your natural game. No more dropped combos and you can simply just LOCK IN. Everything auto detects what console your on as well, so It's nice not having to hit a shortcut to get the right System. Simply Plug In, and you're in! It's time to fight!

The BROOK P5Plus an advanced logic driven controller interposer which amplifies my gameplay experience on PS5 and PC bringing fun back into arcade style retro fighting games. It does this on a small 4x2 inch passively cooled PCB and engineered cross-compatible.// ConfigurationSetup process is complicated taking several hours figure out but at least header plug outputs are individually marked on its multi layered PCB. Once combo buttons are hard wired mapped J3 or J4 sockets, it becomes an central router translating controller button presses on the fly into Xinput as its mostly meant for integrating DIY arcade machines to either solder on underside pads or using screw in quick connectors.// PROS* Multiple header pins on the board allow plugging in various flavors of switches to 1P/2P or LB/RB, d-pad up/down/left/right, Turbo button. Two things make it different, an inclusion of J4 unified plug does streamline setup for plug in sticks along with game based SOCD toggling hotkey.* Lag time is minimal since it relies on a 12.0MHz gold band crystal oscillator to manage the clock of its onboard logic driver. Even at sub-750ms its noticeable but fast enough for retro action gaming to stream multiple combo buttons in turbo unless using a high polling or refresh rate.* Its capable of mapping specifically PS5 triangle, circle, square and option buttons to allow full controller interfacing without having to fallback off an arcade controller to navigate menus and options during game play.* DP mode toggle switch can be attached to a convenient 4pin for swapping between LS/RS. Alongside there are some LED indicators, mainly J2 plug for player LEDs and USB E1 led which illuminates blue.* Plug in and play compatibility stretches across systems including PC running on Linux kernels or PS5 for retro gaming although reduced number of games are able to read outputs from the control board mappings. Ports over between systems without modifying cable wiring seamlessly.* Sticker pack is a nice touch adding flare to retro boxing fight sticks and arcade controllers in full color.// CONS* Wiring can seem like an overwhelmingly complicated task because of the numerous pinouts and duplicated outputs. Does require a lot of learning and effort to overcome setup, firmware flashing and pinout configuration requiring expert level DIY to integrate this within custom arcade systems controllers.* Comes without cabling as only the circuit board itself meaning it still needs to be hooked onto USB Type B, screw threaded hard plugs or 4pin and 5pin connectors before it can be configured up and running for game play.// Final ThoughtsSince complexity is part of the design, the P5Plus becomes a central hub for routing entire controller mappings yet it fits inside arcade machines or even within DIY fight sticks. Its both passively cooled chipset and low power 5V draw at least for USB plug. Performance is fast enough for arcade style games and having multiple sequences of combos at the press of a button transforms retro experience into a lot of fun.

Unfortunately, this reviewer has some limitations due to physical disability and was not able to install the board as required. The installation task was more complicated and delicate than anticipated and fine motor skills were not quite up to the task. There was also a degree of reluctance to inflict unwanted damage to either the board or the host terminal.In the interest of completing this review in a timely manner, the decision was reluctantly made to move ahead with the review submission and return later for updating when proper assistance to install the board can be secured. This is certainly not the fault of the board, and a conditional product score of 5/5 is assigned accordingly until that time.

Ordered two for my two player arcade cabinet, now I can play all the new Gen fighting games on my PS5 arcade. Instant response time. They were plug and play IF YOU BUY THE BROOKS FIGHTING BOARD CABLES. They sell them separately in a little yellow bag, super easy to install. Highly recommend these for your PS5 to arcade buttons needs.

Brook is a company that creates great gaming items. I was lucky enough to be able to test a few of their items and none have disappointed me. This time I was able to test out the P5 Plus Fighting board with Stickers. It is the pre-installed header version.I did not notice any delays while playing, it was very responsive to the presses I would apply.I am not as technically adverse to installing it into an older arcade stick. I had my friend who has done his fair share of using and building arcade machines and arcade sticks. He told me that it was the easiest install he had done in a long time.I haven’t tested it for all the different consoles, but it can work on PS% for fighting games, PS4, PS3, Switch, and PC. The more options could be a positive so that you do not need to buy one kind for each system.The stickers that come with it allows you to stick it and customize your arcade stick. I really enjoyed testing the fighting board.
