Doesn’t latch because shape of plastic is incorrect
See picture, this item on left, old broken original on right. Note that original is curved convex on surface with hook, to match concave mating surface, but this piece is straight on that surface. Consequently, the hook can’t go in quite enough to grab in the hole. Found that amazon also sells the true OEM replacement (only the plastic, have to reuse the rod and spring), so ordered that. Sigh …
