TC Helicon BLOOD MOON PHASER Vintage-Style Phaser Pedal with Four-Stage Filter and All-Analog Circuit

Versatile but perhaps rather cold.
I have bought several phasers in the last couple of years, compared them, and kept two. This was one that I gave away. It does everything you would want a phaser to do, with the exception of the extra tricks that some have, but sounds somehow sterile with my gear. A friend has tried it on her electro harp & it's not bad at all there, but a more basic unit is at least as good. So it all depends on what works for you. If you want a classic phaser sound, buy one of the classics. If you wish to experiment further, consider this one.

It's a Phaser
I bought this and a Vortex flanger on impulse. The Vortex is more than I expected and has a wide and versatile variations and tones. The Helix is a phaser and while it can be adjusted, more or less, finer or broader it's still a phaser. If you like the effect this is a very good one. I think I'll keep it, but a phaser is not the first pedal I'd recommend for a new pedal board. (compressor, reverb, chorus, overdrive!)db

Excellent value.
Took me a while to get the hang of this one. Really low rate set to about 7/8 o clock will give you long sweeps. Use feedback control to excentuate but donβt go to far if running with a fully driven preamp.Using quite a low gain amplifier.Pedal is very noisy in conjunction with other pedals before the amp.Would recommend running it after drive pedals if you want it going straight into the amp. Weird noises can occure when pedals output is boosted from drive/preamp.So Iβve moved mine to the effects loop where it is behaving much better.Could just be my amps preamp was boosting noise levels from the pedal. At the price I paid itβs a great bit of kit and a bit of a bargain.Plus who wants a cheap import when you can have this awesome looking TC on your board!

Quite a tone shift, aside from the phasing
Quite disappointed with this. The phasing just doesn't cut it - it's there but never very pleasant or smooth and sometimes distorting even when all playing clean with good headroom. Frequencies seem to either disappear or fuzz out as it goes through the range rather than a continual smooth swoosh and it adds a high-mid bump and changes the underlying tone quite significantly. I have an EHX Bad Stone reissue and it's nowhere near it. Not even a fraction of the price kind of OK. Just a bit ugly.

High quality, classic sounds, great price!
I'm really impressed with TC Electronics' phaser pedal. With its three dials there is room to tailor the effect, even though I haven't quite worked out the nuances yet (I tend to just fiddle about with it and enjoy the result). The pedal is really well-made, it looks great, it feels great, and it has an epic name in Blood Moon that inspires you to play.I have it going direct into a small practice amp with no effects loop and I ensure it's placed at the end, or at least after any overdrive or distortion pedals, that way you don't get excess noise.Brilliant for chordal play or soloing, a versatile and highly enjoyable pedal.
